I applied at the exact places as everyone else, apart from NYU, because I prefer smaller programs - but I am really starting to get worried as I have heard nothing, and I now wish I had applied to more Law Schools.......

Hi,
As we are talking "brand" and reputation... could you please give me your opinion on the five law schools I applied to :
HLS (ok, I already know that it's the most prestigious)
Columbia, Berkeley, Stanford, NYU.
By the way, I still haven't received any final decision... but I did receive a scholarship from an institution in my country. The only condition is that I get accepted to one of these lawschools.
Cheers !

Hi everyone! I´m Sonya from Costa Rica, and also applying to LLM Programs. I´ve had admissions from Georgetown and Columbia so far, but I´m still waiting from responses from other universities. Has anyone heard from HLS or NYU?
Many thanks, and I´m glad to join the chat!

Hola Sonya,
When did you hear from Columbia? Others and I on this board have not heard anything from Columbia as of yet. Did you apply for financial assistance from Columbia? Well, congratulations for being accepted at these great LLM programs.

Has anyone tried to contact Columbia regarding their admission decision? Is that frowned upon?
Good luck to everyone!

Hi,
I heard that someone from my country (Belgium) received an acceptance letter from Columbia.
I do not know whether he applied for financial assistance.
Well at least, I did ... and I personnaly think that I should not have because it seems to delay the review...
Anyway, congratulations for your acceptance letter.
Maybe we will be classmates (at columbia, NUY or HLS, who knows).

Hi! thanks for the replies! I received the happy news from Columbia last week and yes, I applied for financial aid. It´s possible that they are reviewing applications by last name.....mine starts with a C.....
Good luck to everyone, and keep writing, so we can stay in touch if any of us end up going to the same university!!!

Hello everyone! I have got the admission from Georgetown and some other schools. Georgetown is my top choice so far, but I am still waiting for Northwestern U and NYU.
Has anyone heard from NWU or NYU yet?
Does anyone think that a smaller program is better (for example: Cornell), even better than super-sized NYUs'? If so, would you share your reasons?
Thanks a lot.
Congradulations, everyone! And hope better admissions are coming soon for all of us.
-Peggy

Hi!! yes, they would give me partial financial assistance. However, a year at Columbia is expensive. The overall expenses for the year of study for a single student are almost U$ 60.000.
Peggy, congratulations on your admissions! I think the choice between a large or small program is very personal, and has to do with where you would feel more confortable...

Harvard acceptance arrived today!
Harvard didnât give me any financial aid. I was also admitted to Michigan (2 weeks ago) Columbia (last week) and Chicago (this past Monday by email) and no financial aid either unfortunately.
Good luck guys!

Correction to my last post: Columbian did give financial aid, but it was negligible. For those who are curious about my statistics in case you're waiting for your answer, my class rank was 2nd out of 215 students and I have six years experience as counsel for an embassy in Japan. I completed my first law degree in Cape Town.

Hi, Tokyoguy:
Congratulations on your admissions to those schools. According to your profile, you are undoubtedly their first choice. That's why you receive the offers very early.
About HLS, how did u receive the decision from them? Email, Postcard or Air Mail?
When did you submit your applications to each school? and how much is your Toefl score?

Chris,
I didnât write a TOEFL since my first degree was in English.
As to your kind remark about my being their first choice, I donât think thatâs the case. I called several of my friends who applied and two of them got admitted with financial aid (both got half tuition). They must have had better records than I did.
Harvard sent the offer of admission by letter. Since I wasnât the only person to get the acceptance today, I assume they mailed all their first round of offers at the same time earlier this week.
My first choice remains Yale, but still no answer!

Hi again, tokyo guy! Thank you for the very prompt reply from u.
Come on, your profile is so incredible. I think being granted the financial aid depends on each applicant's financial need, doesn't it?
Sorry to keep asking but still want to know when u sent your applications to all schools. I sent mine to HLS right before deadline and just received the blue postcard last two weeks. It may take very long time for me to get the reply.
Anybody heard anything from Penn? It seems like nobody mentioned about this school.
