Letters of Recommendation Samples

Hoang

Hello,

I am kind of late for my LLM Applications, therefore I stupidly proposed to one of my recommender to send him a "pre-writted LoR", but I don't have one in English!
Does someone know if I can find a good one on some internet site please?

Thanks, and good luck with the admission decisions

I do not recommend or advise you to do pre-written letters. Most schools explicitly prohibit them. Get your guy to do an english letter himself, sign it, seal it, and send it direct by courier.

the letter of recommendation MUST be authored by the writer and not even remotely suggested by the candidate. it has to be an objective assessment of the candidate by the writer.

however, for guidance purposes, many of the law schools have given their own requirements in the shape of a qutionaire which is part of the letter itself. the candidate is required to down loan the form, fill up his name and address as also that of the recommender and deliver it to the writer for his comments.

a pre-wirtten letter delivered by candidate to the writer may at time be a disqualification. the candidate is usually not supposed to know what has been written about him except that after it reaches the law school and if he has not waived his write to see, he may request for its perusal. usually the candidates are expected to waive their right to see the letter so that the writer can express his views more freely.

Thank you for your answers :D

Altough I understand the aim of all the "secret sealed registrar and recommender forms" system, it is very hard to comply with in France, as most institutions and people are not familiar with this kind of process.

About that I have a big problem: I have chosen recommenders who have themselves achieved LLMs (Harvard and NYU), but even though, one of them just mailed me that my sealed letters are ready, but refuses to fill the forms, which take too much time. This recommender wrote me that "french professors cannot spend all their time making american universities work".....

What do you think I should do? Find another recommender in a hurry and less acknowledgable?
Or send the sealed letters without the forms?

Thanks for your help, I am kind of lost right now

i suggest that you send the sealed letters that you have received already to the schools you are applying to, but look for other professors who can fill up the form recommendations. it doesn't hurt to submit extra recommendations (i know someone who submitted 5 letters to harvard), but i think it will hurt to submit just a letter and not a filled up form recommendation.

No offense, but your recommender sounds like an ass.

Actually, if I were you I would fill in the form myself as far as it is only general information like your name, your grades etc. If then the professor only has to sign it or complete specific information which assesses your abilities by checking a few boxes, it should not take him too long so that he will hopefully do it.

Thanks for your advice, as a matter a fact that is what I did for the short forms. And I hope my first recommender will complete them....But at first she had told me that I could choose my 2 favourite universities and pre fill the forms, and she would sign only those....I'll see

Still, my other recommender really seems to expect me to pre writte the letter myself...I will do it but it is kind of akward to write I am a so brilliant and eager student... :(
If anyone has some english letter of recommendation sample, it would help a lot, as I am a native french speaker

Anyway thanks for all those answers :D
