I've withdrawn my Application from the Standby Group of the University of Chicago. Doesn't make sense to wait all the way till at least May (If I'm lucky!). If anyone of you is waiting to get in there, I hope this helps :)

Makes sense probably. U always have upenn as an option. Although Chicago is better ranked than upenn for law but you have to give it to upenn as a university because of the Ivy League status.

Hi all. I know i'm a bit late, but I have just applied for USC and UCLA. Actually i'll take the TOEFL exam tomorrow, and my score will be send to Universities and LSAC within 10 days. My transcript evaluation still appears as "incomplete", and I read above it can take up to 3 weeks to be completed. Considering the rolling basis admission system (well, this give me some hope), should I still expect to get into one of these LLM Programs this year?

True, for me it all comes down to the experience. I doubt that the quality of education imparted by either of these differs substantially. As far as ranks are concerned, more than others, its an issue for all of us who want to get employed post LLM. Although I have no such hopes, I sincerely believe that the difference of ranks between these two Schools will not make or break anyone's chance at any interview.

As long as you're within the deadline, you should not be worried. However, If they give preference to applicants that submit on or before a particular date, it's generally listed on their websites. Other than that, it all depends on your merits. More importantly, it depends on whether the blend of your credentials clicks with the committee. All the best !

Hello,
I heard the Berkeley results have started coming in - have any of you heard back? I think I'd still lean towards Georgetown even if I were accepted to Berkeley, but (selfishly!) I'd still like to have the option open!

I got wait-listed in Berkeley. :((( This is what the Berkeley Admissions Department had to say:
Dear Mr. Latayan,
I write to inform you that after reviewing a great number of applications for the 2013-2014 Academic Year LL.M. program, the Advanced Legal Studies Committee of the UC Berkeley School of Law has placed you on a waiting list pending the results of its initial round of admission offers.
Because of the very large number of highly-qualified applicants for the 145 places in our LL.M. program, it is not possible for us to offer admission to all those whom we would wish to have join us. In addition to the offers of admission made at this time, however, the Advanced Legal Studies Committee also designates several outstanding applicants for placement on the waiting list.
Being placed on the Berkeley Law waiting list is evidence of the strong positive impression you made throughout our review process. While we are aware that you may have other admission offers, we nevertheless hope you will remain on our list. The waiting list will be ranked by May 1st and we will provide your quartile placement on the list if you contact us after that date.

I really do not know about the exact chances, but since many people got rejected at Berkeley, I say we have a better chance than them at least. Rest I would also like to be apprised of my chances at this stage!

I got in, but I'm going to be rejecting the offer. I'm not sure how the waitlist works, but if they have a specific number of "India" slots they want to fill, I hope this helps your chances :)
Congratulations! That is fantastic! :)
Why are you going to reject the offer though? Also mind sharing your profile?

Thank you!
I'm much more keen on Georgetown because I like the school more also because I'd rather be on the east coast, though Berkeley is obviously a great school.
Having said that (based purely on personal preferences), I think the only two schools I would choose over Georgetown at this point (if I'm lucky enough to get in, keep your fingers crossed for me :)) are UPenn and Stanford.
My background is kind of eclectic, I was born and brought up in India, but did my first law degree as an undergraduate at Oxford in England (BA in Jurisprudence). I graduated in 2011 and came back to India - I've been working at a large corporate law firm in Mumbai ever since.

Thanks a lot Ushma!
And Oxford- wow! and if you really like Georgetown you should definitely go for it!
I will still opt for Duke over Georgetown. However I am yet to hear from quite a few universities. So hoping and praying for the best! :)
