incomplete applications - your experiences

Hi guys,

over the last months I have found llm-guide to be a very helpful (and in times rather amusing) source of information. However, last year I couldn't find much reliable information regarding law school policies on incomplete and / or late applications in any of the forum posts when I was looking for answers to two problems: Waiting for a delayed transcript to arrive from a law school I once attended, deadlines were approaching fast and I was beginning to wonder whether it would still make sense to submit an incomplete application at all. On other occasion I used expensive express delivery services to avoid being late and wondered whether I could have exceeded the deadline for a couple of days and saved the extra $$$.

So maybe we could share any experiences we had with late/delayed/incomplete applications? It might help future users of llm-guide.

I for one submitted an incomplete application to Yale (one transcript was missing, I only included an unofficial copy and made them aware of it in my cover letter). A couple of days after the official deadline the transcript reached me and I forwarded it to Yale, where it was accepted without any problems.

Hi Sascha,
So thoughtful of you to think of 'future generations', =) myself am too worried about my own a... to think that far, but could fill a therapeutic role whilst waiting for all admission / rejection decisions.

I got an application incomplete from YLS and completed with transcripts within some days, and it was all alright. So, they accepted my application although it was incomplete. I dont know if it would have been worth saving the money (also expressed it) but to be sure I think the best option is to call the school and ask. A friend of mine didnt have her TOEFL above the required level (100) as deadline passed. However, the school in question was very kind and when she emailed them and asked if she would still be considered they said no probs pls just send it on when it comes in, we will wait to review your application. That said, I know of someone else who was rejected when the TOEFL test wasnt complete once decisions started rolling out. So, you can wait - but contact the school for advice - and don't wait too long. Don't know if that helps anyone, but is my contribution to the topic.
