I'm an LLM of a civil law country (2 year and half). My LLB is not in law, but I have obtained the home bar and now am working in a leading international law firm.
I'm planning to have the llm program and apply to sit for the NY bar in US. However, I was told lately that my 2.5 years' LLM will not qualify the 3-year duration requirement of a foreign law study in a non-common law country.
That said, even if I apply for the evaluation, I will be rejected.
The only way I can choose is to appeal to the court. However, the court has its own decistion whether to grant the waiver for my circumstance.
It would be very grateful if any one here may help me on this:
(1) Did any one know how to appeal to the court?
(2) According to my circumstance, whether my appeal to the court will get a final grant? Is there any former precedent on this?
Many many thanks in advance for any advice.

I am not sure I understand. 2.5 years LLM? How did you go about that? Have you considered CA since you are a admitted to the bar in your country? Or getting an LLM in a common law country. Or even a 2-year JD, if you really want to move to the U.S.
I would not think about court time before you even try to apply. And if this is their set rule, what would suing them help anyway? They are allowed to restrict access to their bar. This has been argued in court before. So I am confused by your question.

Being admitted to home bar, you can sit for California bar exam.
Good luck!
