vidi, I think it is so they have time to confirm receipt of your supporting documents, given the above...! If you're confident of everything making it there in time I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck :)

well, they are doing something with my application, because my status just updated to:
Application Status Received 11/23/2009 519 AM
Official TOEFL Score Report N/A 11/22/2009 1257 PM
I don't need to do TOEFL as I'm British and all my university education has been conducted in English. No idea why they would be updating stuff on Sunday...maybe it is automatic.

hey guys...need your help...i am a little behind schedule in my HLS application...while i am filling up the form online...can u please let me know...whether i should wait to complete my form before sending across the supp docs...do they give you a ref no. or something to quote with your supp docs after submitting the online form??? if not, then i would just send the docs and by the time they reach (think it takes 2-3 days from my place)...i would have completed my online application...
would appreciate a quick reply...Thanks a ton!!!

i understood that they needed everything by 1st December, supporting documents included. I may be wrong on this point, but i certainly wouldn't recommend hanging around to submit your supporting documents.

Hey guys, please a quick question. I submitted my application for Toefl waiver as a letter. I did not use the standard form provided by Harvard. My toefl status still reads not received. Can anyone advice me if it is mandatory to use the form for toefl waiver?

I also did not use the TOEFL request form but I only wrote a letter and my TOEFL waiver request was granted Nov. 23. Goodluck.
