Hi guys,

Is the Embark application program not opening for anyone else? I can get to the Harvard admissions page, but can't seem to get a connection into the Embark server. Is anyone else having this problem?

thanks!

it's working for me - u can write to embark and check with 'em if it's still not working for you..

My take wud be to submit ol..it's fairly simple...you register the recommenders on the embark hls application login n that will send an invite to the recommenders wid a user id n pwd..the recommenders can then login n upload their recon n you'll get an intimation for that. Plus you can track which recommender has sent the reco n remind the ones who haven't..hope this helps.

Hi, if someone knows, if you are admitted, you receive email notification? What is written there and should one confirm? Is it possible to cancel after such confirmation of delay for 1 year your admission? Just information for general knowladge

I have just submitted my application. My referees have submitted their recommendations. I sent my transcript and my TOEFL scores some weeks ago, before submitting my application. I'm wondering whether this is okay. Should I have sent my application before sending my transcript and scores? There was no way to check whether they had received them while working on the application. And the Applicant Status Page, which I can only now access, doesn't show any information yet.

don t worry, they colect all the documents and sort them afterwards. It will take a long time until they have even got all papers of all candidates in order. So just relax, if you sent all documents it will be fine...

I suppose if you have explained the two year gap for personal reasons in your Personal Statement, and other places in the Application Form, it should be fine. HLS is always a hit or miss. One can never objectively say as to what will be viewed in your favour.

A large gap (>1 year) guarantees an unsuccessful application. The thing is, esp. in your case that 2 years is such a long time and there are hundreds of equally good candidates who did something meaningful in those two years. So unless you're a single mother who had to take off to raise a kid or two, such gaps are deadly.

oh that's stressful. I actually had an illness that prevented me from working, but i didn't want to mention what it was (it seemed tacky to include medical history in a personal statement). to somewhat make up for the gap,
I've done an additional year-long specialised degree in my area of interest, and the professor was happy to recommend me. Do you think my not specifying the nature and type of the illness will prove problematic, where my application is otherwise fairly strong?

Yes, it is tacky to write about an illness explicitly though you could sneak it into a line celebrating a brave victory You can't 'make up' a gap though no matter what you do. Your best hope is to try and convince how you with a -2 yr penalty are still better than the competition.

Yes, it is tacky to write about an illness explicitly though you could sneak it into a line celebrating a brave victory [I pursued my interest in --- even as I struggled to start walking after a crippling attack of ---] You can't 'make up' a gap though no matter what you do. You should really write about this issue, even if it is just 1 or 2 sentences ... The personal statement is there to explain elements that are not adressed in the CV. If you have a good reason, it should be ok i think...

Hello Everyone,

I graduated with CGPA 3.1 from one of the top universities in Pakistan. I did my 5 years BA-LLB on full scholarship from the university. I just want to know in terms of my CGPA whether I would be eligible to "apply" for Harvard LLM program or not?

Will be grateful for your response.

Thanks
