Georgetown Early Action Application Submitted!

Nokina

Hello everyone!

I have just submitted my online application with Georgetown. Anyone already submitted the application as well? I am quite excited about it as it is the place I want to get in the most. Suppose my supplementary documents arrive Georgetown this Friday, when do you think they will review and consider my application. Is it on a rolling basis as well for the Early Action application?? When will I hear the result? Will I be informed by email first or just by regular mail? So many questions here, sorry!

Hey Nokina!

I submitted my online application yesterday, and sent the additional documents too.. I think I read somewhere on their website that decisions were not made on a rolling basis for early action, and that they would notify the lucky ones (hopefully us, finger crossed!) by email on December 14th...
I really want to go there too. what LLM did you apply to? I applied to the LLM in economic law..

Hi Laodeshu!

Thanks for the reply. I guess we will have to wait till Dec 14 then. I also applied to International Business and Economic Law. There must be really competitive. Hopefully we both are ones of the lucky people!

By the way, did you write anything on the additional statement part?? I left it blank coz I didn't know what else to add.. but now I am not sure if I made a mistake :(

Good luck!

yes, i hope we'll get admitted! it's competitive indeed, that's why i applied thru early action, as they clearly state that they favor those applicants who apply early... oh well, now we just have to wait.. :)
I wrote an additional statement, because I wanted to explain some part of my academic background that is a bit complicated (i attended two schools at the same time etc. so even my resume can be a bit confusing...), but if you said everything in the personal statement, I don't think it should be a problem if you leave the additional statement blank... If i remember well, it is said that this additional statement must be used to clarify points of your application... so if everything in your application is clear, don't worry!
but I guess if you feel too bad about it, you can still post an additional statement to the graduate admissions office ...

where are you from? did you apply to other schools too?

Just like many other people here, I also applied to Columbia, NYU, Berkeley and U Penn. I am thinking if I should try Harvard but it might be just a waste because my profile is not that outstanding.

What about you? Where else did you apply?

I applied to Columbia, NYU, Uchicago, Cornell... I also wonder about Harvard, the application is on my desk, waiting... :) i also feel it may be a waste, but at the same time, i won't know until i try...
I also hope to get scholarships, but i don't even know if Columbia grants scholarships on merit, and if so, for how much.. do you have an idea?

Hey guys!!

Am applying for Georgetown too and am going to submit my early action application as soon as possible. Did you send the Grading System Sheet per mail to the Graduate Admissions Office or did you submit it electronically in connection with the online application in additional documents section?Think the instructions are a bit confusing...Thanks in advance, I appreciate your answers!
Btw, in addition to Georgetown I am applying for NYU and UChicago...NYU would be my first choice...

Hi applicant 86

I submitted my Grading System Sheet electronically with my online application. Since Georgetown had confirmed they received my official TOEFL score report, only two documents were sent by courier - letters of recommendation and official transcripts (I didn't use LSAC and normally I also sent a copy of my TOEFL score report...just in case). Instructions are surely confusing especially when we apply to many law schools lol

Anyways, good luck with your application!

Heya'll. I graduated from the No.1 law school in my country but not with any spectacular grades, I had pretty many repeats in my 3rd-4th years due to an emotional crisis. However, towards the end I did manage some good grades. I have 2 yrs work ex in tax in a big 4 consulting firm where i got promoted to senior level this year. I have no publications or moots or any of that great stuff to credit.

Whats my best bet at LLM??? Which university do I look at?

Hi guys,

I applied at Georgetown too through the early action process, my papers arrived on Monday...we must wait until mid December in order to knoiw If we're admitted. I'm from Argentina, and applied to NYU, Columbia, Virginia, BU and Florida...mostly LLM in Tax.

Wish you all the best luck!

Hi again, and thanks for the reply to my question! before submitting my application, I still have one additional question: how many recommendations did you submit?Am bit confused since they ask for two but there is however possibility to register 3 recommenders. so I am wondering whether I should still ask for one more or submit my application now.
thanks for help again!

Hi, I've submitted just 2 letters of recommendations...the third one was optional I think.
Best!

Hi applicant86,

I submitted only 2 recommendation letters too. I agree with elnico86 that the 3rd one is optional.

Good luck to you all :)

Can any of you confirm that Georgetown does not offer partial / full tuition waivers for applicants? If so, I may not be applying to it.

Thanks! :)

Hi,
I've heard that GULC is reluctant to offer partial/full tuition waivers, but the LLM in taxation has some scholaeships. With very few exceptions, GULC does not offer waivers.

Hey,

thanks much - as expected. I might just give their JSD/JSD program a go (rather than spending another year in their LLM program)!

Good luck!
