I was wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experience with securing educational loans during the current ecnomic/credit situation in the U.S. I am waiting until Jan. 1 to submit my FAFSA for next year, but I am already a little concerned how the tightening credit market may impact the ability to secure loans (either Stafford-type or private loans).
Given that the downturn was relatively recent in terms of when people secure educational loans, I was wondering if anyone had any experience or whether there were going to be lots of surprised/disappointed applicants in the coming months.
Thanks,
Phisher

I have not yet applied because I am not yet admitted. I am very interested to know what your experience will be.
Please keep us posted.

I think American students might not have big problems but International students may have big trouble in getting student loans.

Jaan222: I hope you're not right in your prediction for international students... but I really don't know how things will go in the coming months.
Baby_Luck: I'm getting ready for the Jan. 1 date to start filling on the application for the US Federal financial aid. Everything I have been told about financial aid is that students are encourage to apply as soon as possible. I have not gone through the process before much less gone through it with a credit crisis, so I really don't know what to expect. Hopefully things will settle a bit and we can all find a bit of confidence in what we should expect. Also, good luck on you applications :)
