hey guys
I am doing LLB in LSE,UK. I am confused whether UCLA or Cornell is better for LLM. Any advice for choosing a college between Cornell and UCLA? LLM is only for a year so I want to have a good experience in the US. Thanks a lot!

Depends on several factors:
1. East coast v. West coast
2. Sunshine v. snow
3. LA or SF job market v. NY market
4. Financial aid packages
5. Higher v. lower-ranked school
6. Your fields of special interest
7. California chicks v. Ithaca nerds
8. Whatnot
In short, you have to consider several factors and think through what you really want from your year in the US. This board will be a good source of information.

Thanks a lot Toni. I consider teaching quality and reputation first. Location and the weather come second. I am so confused now as I also got an offer from LSE but to accept the LSE offer would mean to stay in the UK for another year. I would rather want to go to the US coz that would give me experiences. Anyone know wheter the teaching quality in Cornell or UCLA is better especially for juriprudence?

I guess you should also consider your interests - UCLA has some programs which are quite strong (entertainment/media, etc.)

Hi, I've been offered places on both of these and trying to choose between the two.....my dream job is sports law, so that favours UCLA, general lifestyle favours UCLA, but there is the whole "ivy league" thing with Cornell, any suggestions? Have also been offered u. of virginia but don't think it appeals as much.

california sun? I think also UCLA is also now ranking better than Cornell

ye california sun is tempting....but job market better in my opinion in NY, and cornell is better recognised in Ireland. Cornell still just shades it on rankings
Posted Apr 01, 2007 21:08
ok you have a point. Are there sports law jobs in NY? or Ireland?
Posted Apr 01, 2007 21:13
Ireland has v few but its a growing area, NY and LA are the two main places for sports law work.
