SUBJECT: FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have made an application to the Law faculty for admission on the LL.M course for the year 2008/09. I am writing to enquire any possible financial aid or support that I may be entitled to whilst I am studying the LL.M.
I am from District Bagh, Azad Kashmir (Part of Former Princely State of Jammu & Kashmir administered by Pakistan) and I was greatly affected by the earthquake, which struck on 8th October 2005. My family members were severely injured during the earthquake and lost most of its property and belongings as a consequence of the earthquake and are still struggling to reconstruct a home for family.
Before the earthquake I had planned to apply to your university for LL.M course. I have worked in different departments and NGOs which are as under:-
o Worked in AJK Legislative Assembly as Public Relation Officer with Speaker Legislative Assembly during the period 1994 to 1998.
o Worked in High Court of AJ&K as Private Secretary to Chief Justice during the period 1999 to 2000.
o Worked in AJ&K Accountability Bureau (Ehtesab Bureau) as Staff Officer to Chairman Ehtesab/ Accountability Bureau during the period 2001 to 2004.
o Worked in Shariat Court of AJ&K as P.S to Judge during the period 2004 to Ist February 2006.
o Worked in ICMC (International Catholic Migration Commission) Muzaffarabad as Protection lawyer/Officer and team leader from 7th February 2006 to 11th of November 2006.
o Currently I am Working as Section Officer in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Ministry of Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights. During which time I accumulated knowledge of the law and legal system.
I want to further my education to fulfill my ambition of becoming a leading Advocate/Human Activist in my country; however as a result of the earthquake I am now financially restrained.
I humbly appeal you to please advise me of any possible financial support or aid I can apply for.
Yours truly,
(Amjad Ali Minhas)
Good luck to you all!
