I actually had my mother read the letter to me over the phone...as I am in Edinburgh, and the letter arrived in Glasgow.

She only had a quick glance - she mentioned April as a deadline - but I will confirm on friday when I go home for the weekend.

I was admitted. I got my confirmation letter today.

For your further information, the letter is a big one. My file was completed on Dec 18, 2009 and i have to confirm the offer before April 1 with $300 deposit.

SAME HERE, I JUST REALIZED THAT CORNELL WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE UNI I HAV APPLIED TO....5 to 10 000$ difference with the other programs...

It is really expensive. I still yet to hear whether I am in or not, but even if I do get accepted, I'm not sure I would be able to afford to go. Has anyone managed to find funding yet? Either from the school itself or other scholarships?

The admission letter says that the $300 deposit must be paid with "a cheque drawn on a US Bank".

How am I supposed to do as I am in Europe and do not have a bank account in the US?

Most leading commercial banks with a US presence will issue such cheques, charging a small fee. I suggest you go to whichver bank you have an account in and inquire. The admission letter does not imply that you must write out the cheque yourself.
