Actually no: I applied to Georgetown and Duke (both accepted) and all the U.S. News top10 (still waiting), although one of my recommenders is a UCLA LL.M. graduate and she told me it's a wonderful school.

They asked you an additional letter of recommendation from your Dean in addition to the two you already sent?
Posted Feb 05, 2007 18:24
I had received a form to complete in mail. It was dean's letter to be sent. And it was in addition to 2 recommendation letter I sent earlier. I'm worried because I have boarderline score in toefl. However I have more than 2 year professional experience as an Attorney in High court of state in my home country. I have applied in NY and Georgetown as well. What do you think guys, my chances of getting admission and financial aid are?
Good luck to you all...

Of course, your chances are good enough, jonus. After all it all depends on other applicants...

Very sorry for this! You gonna definately be accepted somewhere else... What do you think were the reasons?
thanks,
V
Thank you. I hope you are right.
Many people have different guesses as to why. For example (1) I have a domestic JD and did not go to a top tier school - although I did very well at my school. (2) I went to CU for undergraduate - and they want a bigger network. (3) I should have emphasized that I am an ethnic minority in my personal statement - my name is pure anglo, but I am Asian. (4) I work for a controversial employer to which Columbia is not sympathetic. etc. etc.
Who knows?
But thank you again for your well wishes!!! :) Good luck to you too.
BTW: They followed up with a posted letter that said almost exactly the same thing as the email.
