To anybody who has received an answer (whether positive or negative): did your status eventually change to “under review” before the reply from the university? Mine still says my application “is complete”, since dec. 26.

Mine says the same since December 7th. For some of the other schools I got into, it changed to admitted only.

I'm not trying to be negative over here, but do you guys think there is a correlation between March and April and being rejected? In other words, is the probability of being admitted nowadays is less than a few weeks ago.
I wish all schools follow the same practice of Chicago Law School, whereby it releases all the decisions on the same day.

Based on previous years, a number of people got their acceptances in March. So let’s hope for the best.

Hi guys, let’s not overthink and analyze too much. We cannot verify anyway. Fingers crossed for those who have not heard including myself.

Hi Everyone,
I'm an applicant from India. Have received admission offers from NYU (IBRLA) on 29th Jan and Columbia (General) on 14th Feb. Columbia has however denied offering financial aid, while NYU is still considering it.
If anyone has any clarity or insights to share on which school to choose, in terms of better job prospects, please do reply.

I still haven’t gotten any response from Columbia and as per my portal, my application hasn’t been reviewed yet. From an analysis of the last few years - it seems as though if you ask for expedited decisions, it can go against you in most cases. Is this true? Further, till when does Columbia keep rolling out admissions? Because I need to send in my acceptances to other places by April 1st.

Hey A - I don't think it goes against you, letting them know you have deadlines on your other apps is a valid reason. I'd try if I were you. They tend to send out decisions until early April, including acceptances, so I don't think there's any harm in asking. best of luck!

Hey Ritunjay, I'd got with whoever if offering me aid tbh. NYU is a great school, especially is you're interested in PIL.
Personally, I've applied to Columbia because of their Clinics and Externship which are my priorities. But I don't know what's on offer at NYU, so your experience may be similarly great over there!

Sorry, not try to be critical, but how you could apply to schools without doing some research and thinking your priorities?
I am getting to think the schools should see judgment skills as well...
Sorry for being harsh but it’s my reaction to this kind of questions. And think about how your questions would look like for those who are eager to get admissions.

I think things like job prospects and all (which is what the concerned person has asked about) is information not very readily available and one gets to know about the same through know how and contacts. It’s perfectly fair on him to ask such questions and if you don’t want to respond or don’t know - then you don’t need to respond or even acknowledge such a query. That’s all.

I also would like to see responses to his queries but my point is no one can have informed answer about job prospect without knowing the person’s background.

But every uni has a different career/ placement cell and a lot of it depends upon that. Generic information about that if people know - they can give. The person asking such a Q isn’t bound to make a decision only basis this - obviously his own judgement and research will also be used.
Anyway, I don’t want to argue or get into anything. I just thought I would put my point across. I wish you all the best for all your applications, and who knows - we might end up in the same place

For those still waiting on a decision, could you share details as to when your applications were complete on the applicant portal?

Mine was complete on 6 December
