Hi, I did receive an offer :) had applied in the early review track. Waiting for the financial aid though. Let's hope for the best. Good luck to you!

Hi Isha - congrats on your offer of admission! Do you mind telling us when you received the offer of admission from Columbia?

Hi, has anyone received an email from Columbia saying they are thrilled to receive an application from me and they are reviewing it. But because of my interest in business law to also consider applying to their executive LLM which is not full time while they are reviewing the traditional LLM application ? Should I view this as a rejection already? Any insight on would help.

This is disgusting. It means that they need your money even if they decide to reject you from the traditional LLM. What a bullshit crap is that the executive LLM is better for you, because you are interested in business law. Lots of students do the traditional Columbia LLM with that interest. Btw, the executive LLM is worthless, you cannot sit for the New York Bar with it. And it is a new program and this bullshit invitation indicates that they did not receive enough application for it.

Same for me. I received the same email recommending executive LLM Program. I wonder if it implies a rejection for my traditional LLM application.

Hi Harvey, Something was definitely bothering me. I am a Corporate in house attorney with significant experience - I want to go back to school to upskill, also I work with US based companies so intending to do my masters from US. I am not looking for a filler qualification :( not at this stage of my career.

Same for me. Also received an email asking whether I am interesting in the executive LLM Program last week. I refused and replied that a traditional LLM fits much better with my career plan.

My irritation is that if they want to reject us - why not say that straight and we focus elsewhere. It’s only professional to tell people early on - I think!

Are we suppose to reply to the email? I was under the impression that it's just a general advertisement email addressed to all LLM applicants indicating business law as an area of interest in their applications . Have any of the accepted students got the same email?

I ignored the email. I applied late for the LLM.

I ignored it too. I suppose it is just an advertisement mass email and has nothing to do with the traditional llm program admission decisions.

And did you receive a reply ?

The email asked whether I would like to be considered for the new program. To be polite, I made a short reply.

Then the director of the new program just made a simple reply to wish me the best.

Looks like they just want to promote the new program.

I also ignored the first email but I just received a second email re. the exec. LLM. The email also noted “Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to be considered.”

Anyone else received this second email?

Yeah me too, but I think it was just a follow up to the first in which the director of the exec llm program herself / himself is reaching out.

Admitted. Really happy because Columbia is my first choice school! Is there any way of asking them to review their financial aid decision though? Other schools are offering me scholarships but not Columbia. Would hate to lose out on the opportunity to attend because of this. Any suggestions?
