Columbia/Early Review

J.D., top 3%, one of the better Canadian law schools. B.A., top 5%, from one of the best Canadian universities.

Only one-and-a-half years professional experience (my biggest downside). However, this consists of an internship at the ICTY and a judicial clerkship in Ontario.

November 18. I should also add that, because of my limited professional experience (especially when applying), I used two academic referees.

After a long wait , sadly, I join the back to the regular cycle crew :(

Thank you for your interest in Columbia Law Schools 2011-12 LL.M. Program. After careful consideration of your Early Review application, the admissions committee has determined that we are unable to make a decision on your LL.M. application at this time. This years Early Review applicant pool was among the largest and most highly qualified in the history of the program. Thus, competition for early admission was exceptionally keen. We anticipate that altogether nearly 1,700 candidates will apply for the approximately 230 places in our LL.M. Class of 2012.

While we are unable to give you a decision at this time, in recognition of your strong academic and professional credentials we have deferred your application to the regular admission cycle to be reconsidered with the full applicant pool. We hope to make most admission decisions by April, and appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to review files. We will let you know as soon as we have made a final decision on your application. In the meantime, we send you our best wishes for a very happy new year.

May I ask where you are from? People say that they got quotas for each country, this may be true..

Yep, yep, we're lot. Plus, a professor from Columbia told me that applicants were compared by nationalities.

So that I means I would be compared to all Belgians applying to Columbia, right?

I was wondering whether Columbia Admissions would remain open on Christmas Eve or even till New Years. I have not received any communication yet, and was wondering whether I am going to hear at all from them by the "end of December".

Could anybody please advise?

Do you guys think that they already announced those who are admitted before the holidays and the others who are waiting are those who are not admitted? :((

Does the holiday extend to the whole week or do you think they may still contact us during this week?

Hi guys,

I am in too :-). However my cv and grades are not really good. I have neither studied at a good university nor do I have lots of work experience. So please don't be discouraged. I am sure most of you will get a chance to study at a Top 20 ranked university.

When is the last day to accept the CLS offer? I haven't seen that on the homepage so far.

But what r your credentials? Maybe it's your country! Congratulations, I'm sure you're better than you think if you were accepted by CLS!
