^ this is going to come across as harsh, I fear. Not really intended that way. The facts are that:
1) if you've already applied, asking for reassurance here won't have any effect on your application.
2) nobody here can tell you if you would be likely to get in, only if they think it is worth you applying, and the answer to that is almost certainly yes given that there are no "hard" admission criteria which you don't meet. (It's not like Oxford where it is clearly not worth someone with a 2:1 applying) Nobody can tell you authoritatively. Reassurance may be nice but at the end of the day it comes down to applying, and being accepted or rejected.
3) Please don't spam the board with the same post in multiple threads.

If I am accepted, please give me the two strongest arguments why I should study an LLM at Columbia?
Thank you!
Thank you!

This hinges massively on why you want to do the LLM, but broadly it's better to go there if:
1) Columbia has particular excellence in the subject areas you want to study and;
2) Columbia has a better reputation generally than the other universities you have been accepted to.
With the caveat that offers of financial aid may also change the situation substantially.
I doubt an LLM from Columbia or any comparable university is a disadvantage on your CV ;) the question is more about what you want to use it for, and which university best suits that purpose.

I fully agree with all of the foregoing reasons.
I have applied to do the LLM at Columbia because I sincerely believe it will give me a plus as student and practitioner. Corporate laws have always been at the heart of my interests and we cannot go wrong with Columbia's reputation inside and outside the USA!
I hope that LLM would also give me an edge in pursuing an academic career and in the selection process when applying to New York firms.
Thank you for your comments.

Congratulations Xview! Do you still recall when you sent out your application? I understand Columbia issues decisions on a rolling basis but not sure about the time span for the "rolling basis"....

Thanks! I sent my papers on 12 December, and they arrived to CLS on 14 December

@ Xview, Congratulations!
Could you tell us when did you get the complete e-mail from Columbia and what are your credentials and area of interest?
Also, if you dont mind, from which country are you from?
Thank you.

I got the "complete" mail on the 19 January. I am from Latin America and have a first degree in law.
Posted Feb 01, 2010 16:49
has anyone else been admitted through regular cycle?
Posted Feb 01, 2010 17:31
And what are your credentials...I think that the "rolling basis" means nothing else that you might jump up and down if you're not considered to be excellent:-)
