When did you receive your "file complete" email?
Thanks and Congratulation

My sense is that people should not assume too much about not receiving any answer at this point.
For example, there maybe some applicants that they will be clearly be accepting, but are in the process of considering whether said applicants are eligible for one of the associateships. This will inevitably take longer than the regular admissions process.
In other words, there are so many variables that it does not make sense to fret at this point.

I think so. We shouldn't freak out at this time, it's too early to make overblown claims, so we should struggle to keep our mental bearing. Good Luck to all of you!

My file just completed about a weak ago and then a couple days ago I received an email rejection for an associateship (I was worse than a longshot, more like a nonstarter, so not a surprise). Hope that helps.

jburns: do you mean you were an outside chance for an associateship, or for admission?
That is, did you receive notice that you would not receive an associateship but, in contrast, would still be considered for admission?

ok, getting to know ur admission results so early might not be such a good idea after all. columbia has now sent me a letter saying that they wont be offering any aid and that if i want to retain my seat i have to shell out $500 by 15th March!!!So now I dont really have a choice but to pay up coz Harvard and the other biggies wont release results by then. and in the end it might just be $500 down the drain:-(
Posted Feb 04, 2006 21:39
Why do you say that this $500 "might just go down the drain" ? Once you secure your seat, you cannot back down and go elsewhere.

in case i get admission into harvard or yale which i would choose over columbia...

Hi,
I got my offer of admission on January 17th and i am French.
I suppose Columbia is not giving any financial help and in fact you have to pay $500 before March 15 in order to secure your place. This deadline is quite upsetting as far as many people are also waiting for answers from NYU ou Harvard.
Regards.

Hi everybody,
I am Argentine.
I got my offer of admission to CLS in December.
A couple of weeks ago I got a letter letting me know about the March 15 deadline. When I asked CLS if their silence re. fellowships meant that I had not been awarded one, they told me decisions re fellowships had not been made yet.
Hope this helps

Did they say the timeframe for determining associateships / fellowships?
It would be odd for the school to expect people to accept the offer without the benefit of knowing if they had financial assistance.

I suppose they´ll let me know the answer re financial aid before March 15. If not, I´ll ask for an extension of the deadline.

I received a letter informing me of my admission and also informing me that my application for financial aid is being considered. I have not been asked to pay $ 500 by March 15. I guess this means that if you are being considered for aid, the Mar. 15 deadline does not apply to you.

When did you receive your acceptance? I would suspect that if you received your notice of admission only recently, they would not place you within the same March 15 deadline as those whom received notice much earlier.

I received my acceptance in early Jan. Anyway, none of the Law Schools seem to follow a set pattern with respect to anything they do. I guess all of us need to be patient and wait till they complete the process.

I agree... logic does not always govern the process.
Out of an abundance of caution, however, may I ask when you applied to Columbia? I'm just trying to gauge timing. My work demands led me to apply at the last possible date.

I applied online in the first week of December. My supporting materials reached CLS on December 13.
And i think it is not really possible to gauge timing. Schools seem to follow their own methods, as is evident from Sophia's post on another thread. Best of luck!
