No, not yet. I guess we will hear something after the 15th, when other admitted students make their final decision. sigh. we are in a very special waiting list... but a friend of mine from Columbia LLM2009 told me they are still reviewing files like crazy. fingers crossed. good luck.

I was waitlisted last month and today received an e-mail asking me if I still wish to be considered by CLS (although I didn't e-mail them about my application). Anyone in the waitlist received the same e-mail? I don't know if it is good sign or bad sign.
In the same e-mail they are saying that we should hear from them within a few weeks.

Damn it! I haven't even been waitlisted? what does this mean? anyone in the same position? should I contact them? thanks.

I am wondering if the other waitlisted people have also received the same e-mail. All those waitlisted, please kindly drop a message if you have/have not received such e-mail.
Saribuey -- If they have sent the same e-mail to all those wiatlisted, then you may be not in the waitlist.. but otherwise if you have not received a rejection e-mail, I think you are implicitly in the waitlist.

Yeah, thanks as_llm. Let's wait to see what happens after the 15th. good luck.

Thank you Art/Br. If they sent the same e-mail to all those waitlisted, it means that they just started reviewing again the waitlisted ones.. Well, we will have to wait one or two weeks more.. Let's hope that we will get good news at the end!

I've been on the wait list for about a month... Got the same email yesterday... asking whether I still wish to be considered...
Posted Apr 10, 2009 22:41
I've been deferred after early review at the end of December, and still no news at all... it doesn't make sense!!!
I've made the effort to apply early (deadline 3rd of November!!!!) in order to get an answer as soon as possible! I'm deferred, fine, but why don't they send me any news since then when they reject and waitlist others??? out of consideration, us deferred should be the first to be advised!!! because what am I supposed to think now? I cannot imagine I'm still in the game for admission since they've started to waitlist applicants, and since I'm apparently not waitlisted, then I'm to be rejected, so why wait to tell me??? or did they manage to lose my file after the early review???
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Has anybody heard from CLS within last few weeks_? Thanks!
Posted Apr 21, 2009 20:09
I called about a week ago and the person said that they still had a few applications to review. He said they hoped to be finished within a couple of weeks (from that time) but there was not any gaurantees that they would be.

I called them today and they told me that it would take at least another week to release decisions..

Does somebody know how many people have already accepted Columbias offer? I have read here that many law schools have accepted more people than last year (i.e., Harvard 220 instead of 150); moreover, in some law schools (i.e. Chicago) more people have already accpeted the offer than in previous years.
If that is the case with Columbia, I think that is almost impossible that the waitlist could move.

Still no news from CLS? What is the deadline to respond the offer of CLS for the admitted ones? Thanks!
Posted May 01, 2009 22:51
Hey as_llm, I heard that the deadline for the admitted ones (and that made already the deposit) to accept definitely the offer is by late June, so, I think that waitlist movements doesnt depends on that deadline.
The last admitted people that I know where admitted in the beginning of March, almost two months ago.
Do you know how many people have already accepted CLS offer?

late june is tooo late.. I have no idea how many people have already accepted CLS offer but I know that at least from my country there is one person who was admitted but definetely will not attend CLS but still have not notified CLS of this fact. I cantt believe that they have time to notify until late june.. I am admitted by another school paid 2500 deposit but still cannot start i20 process as I am still waiting from cls.. dont know what to do

As I said, I think that waitlist movements doesnt depends on that deadline, but on how many people made the deposit on March 10 (early admitted applicants and some people admitted in January) and between March 20 and April 1(deadline for the all the rest).
If enough people (i.e. 250) have paid the $500 deposit, there will be no movements, since, if 20 students doesnt attend at the end, it doesnt hurt CLS budget. Usually law schools admits more people that their aim size class, just in the case that some people change their mind (that is what, according to some post that I have read here, have happened in many law schools)
BTW, just read this at CLS website: Admission decisions for the Early Review Program are made by the end of December. Applicants will be accepted, rejected or deferred to the regular admission cycle. All other admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, in most cases no later than late April
We are on May. I give up. Maybe they will communicate our rejections by snail mail.

as_llm dont want to discourage you, but a $2,500 deposit doesnt seems like a just to reserve a seat deposit, but more like a I will definitely go there deposit.
If that is the case, there are several consequences if you didnt attend that law school, including possible charges that that law school could rise against you if you want to take the bar etc.
There are several threads about those consequences.

I called the CLS once again and they told me that it may take another 1-2 weeks...! But they told me that "it is not over".
@sergiom- could you tell me how I can reach those threads that you were talking about? I didn't know about that.. actually I submitted the second deposit to a school but I have not signed anything promising to attend that school and not to withdraw my acceptance. Would be happy to hear more about the consequences of attending another school after accepting one of the offers.
