CLS - Class of 2012

Hi everyone,

Little technical (stupid?) question : has anyone figured out how to use the columbia email adress with your real name (i.e firstname.lastname@columbia.edu)? My name appears if I send an email but the adress is still a mix of random letters and numbers.

Thanks!

I don't think you can change that....see for example the alumni email adress displayed by the admitted students handbook: they're all a mix of the initial and random numbers.

Was anybody required to enrol in an intensive English language program as the condition to start the LL.M. Program? If yes, does anybody know how long time the English program should be? Did anybody ask the admission office this question?

Hello!! I have the same condition. I sent an email to admissions and they said any of the intensive summer programs would work. I am planning on doing the Summer Program C which runs from July 11 to Aug 5. I assume you can choose any of the programs, but if I were you, I would just send an email to Admissions in order to confirm it. See you in NY!!!

But the Admission Office told me that I must enroll in a program at least 6 weeks in length. That is program B. When did you send the email to them?

I sent the email about three weeks ago. Maybe they require different programs depending on each case. I'll send another email in order to confirm the Summer Program C is ok for me.

Hi, Acasan, have you sent another email to confirm the Summer Program and did they reply to you? I sent an email one week ago but did not receive any feedback from them.

Hello!!! As they told me any intensive summer program was ok, I just sent another email last week, confirming I will take the Summer Program C. They have not answered me yet, but I assume that if they don't answer, it means it is ok if I take that program.

Hi guys,

I got accepted too and paid my deposit. However, after meeting with my bank, I started to be a little worried about all the money this LLM represents (I didn't get any scholarships), especially with all my previous debts...

I want to work in international law - human rights, and was wondering if you know how hard/easy it might be to find a job in that field - in the US or elsewhere - that would be paid enough to eventually pay the loan back...

Option 2 would be to go to Brazil in a less known university with a full scholarship.

How much do you think CLS may worth for future jobs, for example the UN or the Red Cross??

Thanks!

Hi. you guys are going to have a blast in Columbia. I am a 2011 LLM graduate. The email address is a combo of numbers and initials (called the uni). That is the one that actually works. The one with your "first name.your surname" does not work but actually exists. I kept trying to figure it out throughout my stay in CLS but never did. I could not be bothered to ask the IT guys either. Study hard folks but do not forget to have fun because the program goes so fast. All the best fellas.
