Congratulations! And when did you apply?
Posted Feb 21, 2008 13:06
sent everything late November
Posted Feb 21, 2008 15:22
I received the "Application Complete" e-mail on January 1.
Do you think that my notification (for good or bad) will be received later than others applicants...???

Chicago has proven not to release all decisions simultaneously as other Law Schools do (i.e. Harvard, Yale). If you look in previous years threads with regard to Chicago admissions, you will see that Chicago sends out decisions in 2 or 3 groups. Yesterday, they released the first bunch of decisions. In a few weeks from now presumably (could be sooner or later) they are going to release the second bunch. I think (judging from last year's and this year's threads) that it is the policy of Chicago to treat applications in the order they arrive. It seems to me that all people, who received an answer yesterday where notified on the completness of their application until Dec 15th. Thus, I assume that you will be notified with the second bunch of decisions. If you received your application complete notification on January 17, then your application will be reviewed later than other applications, who were submitted much earlier. Consequently, you will be notified later on their decision.
I think this is the way that the admission process goes at Chicago. I might be wrong, but their is strong evidence that this is their system. I wish you good luck!

I doubt this is true. Greg_08 was accepted and he got his notification on January 12th! Greg, who also got accepted said he sent his application at the end of November, which is not very early. I sent my application on December 5th and got my notification on January 11th. It really doesn't make much sense to me...

I got the completion confirmation on 30 Nov. And now I think I am out of the game. Very disappointed! Anyway, congratulations to all those who have been admitted to Chicago.

I sent my application with all documents in early december and I didn't receive any answer about the complention of my application. I have already sent 3 emails and I have got no answer so far... I guess something is wrong and I don't know what to do.

have you tried giving them a call?

Agreed about calling. I did it for UF and was very happy I had as they had no downloaded one letter of rec that had been in their system for a month
I am going to call Northwestern myself today to see what the holdup is

Northwestern?!? I'm in the right discussion board?
Anyway, I'm thinking that it is odd that so few people got admitted so far! Don't you?

I should mention we got notification of acceptance via email, in which they said that the official documents would be sent via fedex around 20th March.

Just to let you guys know that I also received the admission email last Friday. I could note that there are a lot of Brazilians admitted in this chat. I do think they like Brazil! Good luck to all!
Posted Feb 28, 2008 17:24
maybe they are analizing applications by geographic area??
Posted Feb 28, 2008 17:33
I don't think so...I received the admission two weeks ago together with all the others, anyway I sent them an email today refusing the offer (as Brazil2008) so there will be more room for people still waiting.

FYI: I just got an e-mail a couple of hours ago letting me know I didn't get in. ( :( I really wanted to do some L & E at Chicago. Oh well.) So either it's a second round of e-mails or the Nays from the first round. I got my "application complete" e-mail on 18 December 2007. Just FYI.
Cheers to all those who got in.

I was notified today that I am in the standby group and that 15% of applications were inserted in this group.
I would appreciate if the Brazilian admitted fellows could kindly tell me whether they are accepting or denying Chicago's offer. Many tks and rgds
