Hello All,
I am a final year law student from India and interested in doing my masters. I have an aggregate of 58% and interested in areas of Capital markets, Securities and Corporate law. I have shortlisted Geogetown University, Boston, NYU ( very bleak). COuld you please let me know what would be my chances and if there are other equally good tier 2 universities I should be looking at.

I don't know what you mean by tier 2 but I'd definitely apply to UCLA.
Apart from that, I'd go for HLS, Berkeley, Stanford, Columbia...

Thanks for your inputs... What i meant by tier 2 colleges were the ones from rank 8-15. Could you please tell me as to my chances at Georgetown though

Well I don't understand your grading system. How are your ranked in your class? What do you have in your cv besides a law degree?

The university system followed in India is one where there is absolute marking. We have written exam and then given percentages for roughly 25 legal subjects in the 5 yr law course in india after schooling. You can say I come in the top 30% of the batch in college.
I have another degree masters in business law along with my law school degree. Hope this helps. Await your input
Thanks alot

Well honestly I have no idea how US law schools would rate your cv but you should apply to the law schools you wish to attend. Moreover, just try to combine a set of different law schools. Some of the most prestigious with others not as demanding... Read the information on the law schools web sites in order to understand if you match the specific criteria for each school (some are more academic oriented, some require work experience, some are good in specific areas, etc.). This will help you on your selection.
Good luck.
Good luck.

you can think of Northwestern Law (with or without its joint program with Kellogg), and see whether it can fit in your interests. best of luck with your admission!

I would like to thank you for the courses. I have marked those courses, but the main criteria there is work experience. As i would be graduating now, probably stack up as a fresher itself in application process. Could you let me know what would be my chances if i do apply as my aggregate is 58% and probably in the top 60 of my batch

I will graduate next May but right now, my GPA is 2.84. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed to get to 3:00 at least. It has been very rigorous in Puerto Rico. I will apply to UF, USF and University of Miami, in that order. What do you guys think? Let me hear back from you. Thanks.
