Dear LLM candidates, admitted students and other interested colleagues,
I've been reading many threads here for several years and so I very much value your experience and opinion.
I've got admitted to Berkeley and GULC and would like you to help me by sharing you thoughts about these schools, their location, et cetera.
BTW:
I am not going to study IP Law - that's why Berkeley is not my definite choice.
Moreover, I'd like to learn more about securities or international business law in general and may be even pass NY Bar - that's why I am more leaning to GULC.
Is Berkeley ranked a bit higher so much better than GULC?
That is the question...
Thank you in advance!

I believe that indeed, Berkeley is ranked better than Georgetown, at least in what concerns to Law Schools, you just need to make a quick online research and see... some useful rankings are U.S. News rankings, Times Higher Education and Academic Ranking of World Universities.

My question was a bit different) I know that Berkeley is ranked higher. But, does it mean that Berkeley is much better than GULC?

Z_law, I honestly think that there is no huge difference in quality. I would even say that in terms of quality there is almost no difference. Obviously, Berkeley's ranking is higher; however, the main advantage of Berkeley if compared to GULC is that Berkeley arguably has more of lay prestige and international reputation. In my view you should consider which program is more suitable for you as well as other issues (what are your goals in future (job in US?), which location is preferable, overall cost of attendance, size of program, etc). I wouldn't just rely on rankings.

Thank you very much! The thing is that nobody tells me why Berkeley not GULC except saying: "because it's Berkeley!"))

I know, I had the same dilemma a week ago. All people (not lawyers) whom I asked said go to Berkeley because it's Berkeley. But as I wrote in another thread, I've been there and was so disappointed because the school just didn't look like "wow, it's Berkeley" )) Actually, I think that if you plan to find job in the US, you'd better choose Georgetown - you would be closer to all major law firms, international organizations, would have better connections.

Once more thank you very helpful comments! You made my choice much easier))

If you want to stay and find a job in U.S., that will be one vote on GULC which has a splendid location and greater Internatioanl Law major.
Otherwise Berkeley~
Otherwise Berkeley~
