Hi there,
well i would go to Umich cause i haven't applied to Berkley. I am really sorry that i cannot offer any substantial help , it's really up to you, and the factors that play the biggest role in your decision. Most people would say, go to Berkeley if you want to do IP, then it's San Fransisco vs Ann Arbor-i guess most people would choose San Fransisco -and there is of course the US news rankings where Umich is ranked a bit better but personally that's the last think i would care about. Anyway i was hoping you could tell me when you went complete and country of origin or at least continent if you don't want to be very specific.Thanx

I received an eMail which informed me about the admittance from UMich Jan 27 and the letter four days later. Berkeley sent an eMail two days ago, the letter has not arrived yet.

The decision is difficult, especially because I have to answer until March 6 and still don't know whether I will get a scholarship.

Have you heard from UMich already?
I'm from Germany.

Nope, no answer yet
I am from Greece and went complete in late Novemeber and know i am hoping auf eine baldige Antwort.
Perhaps you should ask for an extension, since you cannot really committ yourself to going without knowing what money they will offer you. I think it worked last year with a girl that was posting here. You can check on April's 2005 posts, i think it will be helpful to read her posts as she had the same concerns

Berkeley, no question. Pedigree mate, Boalt Hall is one of the best law schools in the world.

lighthearted, i've also applied to UMich-ann arbor. My file went complete in early December. They told me that they'll probably reach a decision in late marh/early april. So i'm anxious over which the notice would be, though thus far i've obtained admittance from NU, GWU, Indiana. I think my selection will mostly depend on which one of these fine law schools provides me with some financial aid of any sort; therefore i agree with you that it is right to wait until those institutions have issued their grants announcements, and only then make an informed decision. In regards with which university to pick up, i wouldn't entirely buy into what those so-called scientific rankings bring forward as their selection methodology is said to be flawed. I suggest you choose the law school based on your perceived acquaintance regarding the faculty quality and ratio, location, area of expertise, climate, cost of education, camaraderie and financial assistance.

Congrats on your admision! What subject area would you prefer to focus your LLM on? I guess it depends a lot on that. If IP,no questions asked, Boalt Hall.
