Hello everyone,
I completed my application to berkeley a couple of days before the deadline, and I would like to know if Berkeley does usually send an acknowledgement confirming that they have received all of the application materials.
Thank you

I called Berkeley admissions office a week after I sent my application (first days of December) to ask if they send a "complete application notification". They said that typically they don't send sth like this and they would only communicate with the applicant if there is sth missing, but I guess that now that the deadline has passed they wouldn't do such a thing either. However, in last year's fora I noticed that people did receive such a notification from Berkeley, but that was quite late (2-3 months after they sent their applications), so right now I'm actually confused about the whole thing. If there is someone out there who could provide us with more information, I would appreciate it (although I don't believe that anyone whould show up since most visitors of this board have the "take as much as you can and give nothing in return" attitude).

I do received such notice that informed me that my transcript and certification letter are missing. In fact I indeed collected my transcript and certification letter in mypacket. So I called them yesterday and I received a Email later:
If you feel certain that you have already submitted all the required
documentation to us, it is likely that we simply haven't processed your
application materials already. Because of the volume of material we are
currently receiving, there is a significant delay between when materials
arrive in our office and when they are integrated into the proper
application packets. Reminders sent during this period of delay, such
as the one you received, may not take into account materials which have
been sent but not yet integrated.
If this is the case, please disregard the e-mail. We will be sending
out another round of e-mail notifications the week of January 7th. If
you receive another notice at this time, it will mean that your
materials still have not reached us, at which time you may wish to
re-submit them. Until that time, if you are confident that we should
have your application materials, please don't worry.

Thank you superbuffon for the prompt and very elucidating response to our queries. I guess that if we've done sth wrong with the application, they will let us know in mid-January. But still it seems that they don't send out "complete application notification" but only notice whether sth is missing. Since I am sure that I have included everything in my file I guess I don't have to worry. Good luck superbuffon with your application to Berkeley and once again thank you very much for the response!

I wrote them yesterday and asked them regarding my application stsaus. They answered:
"According to my records we have received your application but have not yet completed processing your application packet. We expect the processing stage to be completed by the end of January, at which time we will contact all applicants."

I have just called Jason at the Admissions Office and he told me that the final decision will be given by April!!!
They will only send an email to all the applicants stating that the records are complete.
I really thought the answers would be given earlier! I can't wait anymore
Does somebody has new information?

But it seems that last year the answers were given in earlier March...

Until last year, they made decision on rolling basis... some of the students got their decisions in January itself... but from this they changed their procedure and accordingly the decisions will be made only once, in April... I have received an email from Jason Shepherd that the decisions will be made in April...

I also applied to the program at Berkeley, and yet without any answer.
Can someone tell me if someone at Berkeley actually answers e-mails or phone calls? Who can help me at Berkeley?

I will wait for the decision at Berkeley, and try to get an extension of admission acceptance from Virginia.

Berkeley did change their procedure, and the answer is already on the school's webside....

How can I receive updates on my application status?
Please note that the review process is very thorough and time consuming. For this reason, we do not always have immediate information on your application status. However, please rest assured that if critical information is missing from your file, we will contact you immediately. To expedite such a notification, please make sure that you provide us with your current email address.
When will admissions decisions be made?
Decisions are made in April, at which point applicants will be notified of their admission status. All decisions are made at the same time, not on a rolling basis.

I asked my friend in Berkeley about the progress, and he replied.....
Regarding the Boalt Hall admission, the source that I got from my insider is that they'll probably send all the applications to the committee in the end of Feb. although the dealine was 12/15.. so it seems you'll still have to wait.. But I believe that you definitely can get in.. :-)

I received yesterday an e-mail confirming that my application is complete. The mail also said:
"Complete applications will be forwarded to the selection committee in February. Admissions decisions will be made in March, and all applicants will be notified of their status in April. Given the large number of applications we receive, we request that you refrain from requesting status updates or otherwise contacting us unless the matter is urgent."
Hope this helps
