Anyone from Russia or other CIS countries applying to NYU or Columbia

New Yorker

Is there any Russians or anyone from CIS countries applying to NYU or Columbia?

Has anyone been admitted to any of the above law schools for 2007-2008? (In case of Columbia -- not under an early review procedure). If yes, any scholarships? Especially Hauser...

Appreciate any replies...

Hi! I am from Russia and applied to CLS (inter alia). I know there are approx. 5 people from RF & CIS who responded to the similar query about 2 months ago. Are from Russia?

Nice,

Yes, I am from St. Petersburg.

So, no news as yet from both NYU and Columbia? This is the case with me. Still waiting.

Hi,
You can add one more to the representatives of CIS region.
I was applying to Columbia but unfortunately have received the denial, though my GPA is 4.5, I'm a senior lawyer in a solid legal counseling company. It remains only to guess.
Have somebody already matriculated in Columbia?

Now I'm going to apply to Fordham, how do you think is it a good/solid (maybe Columbia level) University? As I know it's a member of Ivy league equally with Columbia.

And can anyone help me with one more question, 'cause the Univ is silent for more than 3 days but the deadline is approaching.
The Fordham's application fee should be paid either by bank draft or a money order drawn on a U.S. bank, at the same time there is no information about the Fordham's bank requisites (# bank account etc.). Does somebody know how (e.g money order) it is usually done in U.S.? Does it mean that I can send money via Western Union to any U.S. bank with indicating the purpose of payment and the addressee?.

I would really appreciate your help, thank you in advance and BR.

Hi everyone,
Where have you been when me and V2007 were searching for the CIS applicants for 2007?
Nevertheless, now there are only four applicants from Russia at this board (me, V2007, New Yorker and Rudik).

Concerning your question, Rudik, I know that V2007 requested bank requisites directly from the university via email, and successfully paid the fee by bank transfer. I think he could advice you on this matter.
At the same time I suggest you to check if they accept travelers checks, it is much easier and means no bank charges.

About your denial from Columbia, when did you apply (Early Review or not) and when did you receive the denial? I applied to Columbia as well, still have no reply and very interested.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

my doc's reached Columbia sharp to the 11.00 15th of December, moreover one of the letters reached Columbia on 30th of December. My file was formed on the 18 of Jan and the denial was received on the 14 of Feb.
As regards to the bank requisites, then I've already sent them my request but it is quiet like in a tank.

Like in a tank....)))
Well, then give em a call. Ask about checks...
Consider the time discrepancy.
My file was formed on 13 dec and they are still silent. I know that the deadline is at a distant date...but nervous already.

Alexei I dont think that you should worry everything will be Ok, maybe they like Russians more than Ukrainians ))) (I'm from Kiev).

And considering that our community grows extremely quick I think we can establish our own University )))

Hi guys,
For those of you who applied to Columbia and haven't received any news yet: last year Columbia extended the deadline and some people got to know their decision in May. ..
Good Luck
