First of all like you folks I haven't received anything. However I did hear somebody had been accepted last month whose background doesn't seem strong. It's funny, huh?

Just received the anticipated offer. Maybe they are starting to release them.

Congratulations!
What program and when did you apply? Where are you from? Any scholarship?
Sorry about asking too many questions:)
Thank you.

Just got an e-mail with a link to my admission letter. But it does not say anything on the scholarships. deadline 15 april.
Posted Mar 03, 2009 19:52
I guess that means no scholarship. Mine is also silent and guess I should not expect any help from them on financing my studies.
BTW - the offer letter just arrived by UPS. They are fast!

As I posted under "IN @ NYU", I got admitted on Mar. 02, International Tax program, with a 50% scholarship.
Here is an excerpt of my admission letter:

Dear Mr. [FRANZISKANER]:
I am very pleased to offer you admission to the Graduate Division of New York University School of Law as a candidate for the Master of Laws in the full-time International Taxation program for the Fall 2009 semester. You were selected from a talented group of applicants and we congratulate you on your outstanding record of achievement.
In addition, we have determined that you are eligible for the prestigious half-tuition Gerald L. Wallace Fund Scholarship. On average, we receive approximately 2000 applications to our graduate program each year. Within that pool there are a small number of applicants who possess academic records that are so exceptional, and have interests that are so well-matched to the opportunities NYU has to offer, that we have identified them as particularly deserving of a significant merit award. We used to award only Hauser Scholarships which were limited to about 10 each year. The strength of our applicant pool made it increasingly artificial to draw a meaningful line of distinction based on the credentials of this singular group. We established additional awards to enable us to recognize more of our strongest applicants, and we are happy to offer one to you. For important information on how to obtain the award, please be sure to read the instructions at the end of this letter.
The scholarship is not just a sum of money; it is a lifelong credential, and additionally provides the opportunity to receive personalized attention from the faculty. As you are eligible for one of our merit awards, we are also delighted to offer you the possibility of obtaining one of our selective
Research Associate positions. [...]"
Congrats to those also admitted!

That is great man! Wow!
Congratulations to everyone admitted! I hope to receive the same letter.
Does anyone have numbers on the estimated budget for a year at NYU?

With the crisis and the dollar exchange rate? I am sure recruitment rate will be low.
So, No, don't be worried. Either A) your offer is in the cyber space trying to make its way to your in box or B) there will be a place and an offer soon, when someone withdraws.

Mhmm that's rather low for NY :)
Duke and Virginia is around 62000$. I thought I would not go to NYU, if accepted, because it would cost much more.

I do not think that 70.000$ for NYU is realistic. I would guess at least 80.000$. Are there some guys who know it better, because I am interested too. I got a scholarhip of 20.000 (half-tuition), but I think it remains still more expensive than other universities, where I would calculate 60.000$.
My second question is: "Research Associate position"; is this a good offer for an LLM student or is it just a trick to get the confirmation of the students easier because I would like to wait for Harvard?
Do you think it will be gone (they said first come first serve), when Harvard releases their admitted students in a few weeks?
I have now offers from VIrgina, Duke and NYU and I still tend to Duke, although I would get a half-tuition scholaship from NYU. This decisions are so difficult, it makes me crazy, especially when they put so much pressure on you like NYU. This is an argument for me to not except it.

I am having exactly the same doubts about the Research Associate position. Still, Iam choosing NYU over Harvard. I mean, I dont know if Harvard accepted me yet, but I would prefer NYU anyways. New York, New York...

Those who have offers, will you accept or decline?
Posted Mar 04, 2009 19:21
I got an online offer of admission yesterday (International Legal Studies, NYC, deadline April 15th), but it doesn't mention a scholarship offer... which most certainly means that I won't get any. NYU is my first choice, but I've also applied to Berkeley, Harvard and Yale. I guess I will wait for the other decisions, and then figure out what to do!

All you people who say you prefer NYU over Harvard, could you please explain why? Only because of the city? (Boston seems to me like a great place too...) Or your specialization?
