One can't punish a person for wanting to know the result of every application he's made......you may call it vanity or whatever else you want to.

Well...let's see if one can or cannot punish the person if the person has breached a material clause of a contract....of course....'one' means NYU. The contract specifically asks the grantee to withdraw....not to 'not to' accept other offers. It doesn't take a nobel-prize winner to understand such a simple requirement...but of course it takes some ethics.

TO UP,

POINT 1:

So I guess the mistake mltmhl has made so far is to be "indecent enough to publicize things which may be unfair to others (i.e., to NYU and to the other brilliant applicants still waiting for NYU's decision on the scholarship). "

REPLY: THE VIOLATION IS NOT WITHDRAWING THE APPLICATION TO OTHER SCHOOLS UPON ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD FROM NYU. THIS IS CLEAR IN THE LETTER. NO ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION.

POINT 2:

To my mind, it would be unfair only if he withdrew his acceptance of NYU after receiving Stanford's offer.

REPLY: I DO NOT WANT TO BE THE JUDGE. AND CERTAINLY NOT YOU. PERHAPS, MLTMHL CAN LET US KNOW HIS OR HER NAME, AND THEN WE REFER THE MATTER TO THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE. LET THEM DECIDE.

SLOWBUTSURE,

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU (BUT MAN, YOU DID NOT HAVE TO POST THAT MANY TIMES).

thanks slowbustre....you've more than made your point :).

I suggest that you save some of your time and energy by not repeating the same thing again.

Besides, all of you are going to meet at NYU....you seem to have started out on the wrong foot.....doesn't seem like you guys are going to have the best time together at NYU

My apologies, let me rephrase that:

The violation is NOT HAVING WITHDRAWN the application to other schools PRIOR to accepting the award from NYU.

Funny indeed. Even my last post says "Account deleted".

Anyway, the best thing to do is for mltmhl to disclose his or her name so we can refer the matter to the NYU Scholarship Committee.

I am not from the US.

I also got admitted to the Corporate Governance & Practice program.

I received my application complete e-mail on the 17th of December.

There was no phonecall - just an e-mail and they are Fedexing me the addmission package.

Wish you all the best!

I am really curious about you excellent people's background and experiences which are preferred by Stanford. Are you lawyers with big firms, or academics with notable articles/books from high ranking schools?

Thank you if any lucky one can share!
