Hey, I was wondering about the selection of applicants on the waiting list : if a non US native refuses to enter a University because he would rather go to another, will the University necessarily turn to a non US native on the waiting list ?

Yes. It should be more likely than not that this should be the case. Generally, when calling off the wait list, pure substitution is aimed for in terms of diversity. So, generally a female from LLM Land chooses another Uni. another female from LLMLand is offered If there are two of them on the wait list, both are offered, each a hedge against the other...If there is no one from LLM Lnd on the wait list, the sex rules over nationality and rather than offering to the male on the wait list from LLMLand, the seat will likely be offered to another female from JSDland for example.
If sex is not specifically in issue in that the person first offered is a male and refuses, generally, those on the wait list from that country regardless of gender (discounting the nuances between sex and gender for simplicity and treating them identical in meaning :)) are offered...

may I ask a question on waiting lists? Im on a waiting list of stanford now and wondering how difficult it is to be admitted later on. I mean generally.

I suppose it depends on the ranking of the Uni you're on the waiting list for.
For ex., only a very few people will refuse CLS, then applicants on the waiting list have less chances to be accepted. Same for Harvard, etc.
I did not look how Stanford is ranked and I don't really know about its well-known programs so I can't help u with that, but if it's one of the best unis, I suppose u're less likely to enter... Maybe I'm wrong (and I truly hope!!!!)

Can I still ask another question? SInce I received a phone call from the school yesterday, they called me to interview some questions those Ive already written in the proposal and sop (so I dont know why do they ask it again). However, I answer it not so well. I dont know whether they are serious with the interview or not, and do I have a possibility to be admitted now?
Thanks in advance. Im kinda confused now. -_-''
