A 2:2 from Warwick to LLM in USA?

vika09

Hey everyone,

I am currently in my second year at the University of Warwick and I am interested in pursuing an LL.M in the US.

My grades aren't necessarily eye catching, but I must admit (though not blaming) that I still haven't chosen subjects I enjoy/want to focus on. I want to specialise in IP/Commerical and so far none of those modules have turned up, although I did get a 2:1 in international.

Now, what are my chances in getting into a good - excellent LLM programme in the USA? I am mostly looking at UofChicago, UofMichigan and NYU for their IP programmes.

I still haven't finished the degree (I have a year left!), but the applications for the 2012/13 year starts soon and just wanted to know how realistic my aims are. Would really positive recommendations even work?

Thanks!

You should always try and apply. To avoid frustration try and apply to other top ranked schools such as the University of Texas, which is still very good and also Georgetown.

In Chicago they get 750 applications for around 50 places so the odds are though but you never know.

Look at the top 20 schools are excellent. If rankings do matter in your case look around the T-20, T-30.
