Hi All;

I have an awkward question to ask. Do you know if it makes any difference while applying to the top Ivy League Colleges, say Harvard, if you say that you don't require financial assistance? Is it viewed favourably as something in your favour, quite independent of your credentials?

[Obviously the question is under the assumption that the person applying has decent grades, work ex. etc. - essentially the financial issue as an independent factor]

Hi,

I've heard that it is much easier to get an offer if you don't apply for financial assistance. These schools receive so many files that they will always find brilliant people who are ready to pay the whole tuition. However each of the top Ivy League schools offers a couple of grants - in order to be selected your cv must really be exceptionnal - and make the school want you in its program.
Good luck!

I also have heard that it is not very uncommon to prefer one who is ready to pay 35.000$ per one year, even though his credentials are just a little above average..
But you must bare in mind that there are a lot of very good candidates who are ready to pay this fee too...

In sum, "money talks" but don't think that you will be in Ivy League Law Schools just because you pay it..

But didn't most schools make it clear in the application instructions that their admission and financial assistance decisions would be made SEPARATELY?
