Hi,
I submited an application to King's College ten days ago. Yesterday I received an email from King's College saying :
"your application has now been carefully considered and unfortunately you don't meet the academic entrance requirements for the programme".
I am very surprised because King's College has just sent an email to my references and my references haven't replied so far. How could they start assessing my application?
Regarding the academic entrance requirements I have everything : Master 2 in law with second class honours and several years of experience as an attorney.
Can anybody figure out what happened?
Thanks
Why did King's College reject my application?

Hi! When exactly did you receive this notification? Because I too submitted my application to Kings on rge 5th Febrayary and received a notification with identical words as yours on the 18th Feb. As it happened to you, by then my referees has not even submitted their references and they have received a reminder on 21st Feb from Kings, asking them to submit the references.
Therefore my referees have submitted them online and I am waiting to hear from Kings. Of course, I have got an offer from Queen Mary, so I have something to fall back on even if Kings reject me. Therefore I feel less stressful.
Will keep you posted about any new developments with regard to my application to Kings :-)

you both got rejected because I believe there is no space l left...
@ Nadjia. Frankly, I don't think it will make any difference even if your ref send their rec. letter at this moment, since you are already rejected. Did your status change after the rec. reminder?

Hey thanx! :-) If the reason why I have ben rejected is because all the places are filled, I am glad. Otherwise I will be wandering whats wrong with my qualifications like Jeanba.
Have you got an offer from Kings? If you are, lucky you and congratulations!
As I said earlier, failingeverything , I always have the place at QMUL :-)
By the way do you know how the teaching is at LSE? I heard that it is not as good as it used to be. Is that true? I have applied to LSE and awaiting news from them ....

I have received the notification yesterday...Just the day before they emailed me that they sent again an email to my referees. So it is uncomprehensible.
I am aware that I applied lately but the application status is still open...
I am desappointed ans I sent them an email requesting explanations.
I submitted application to UCL and LSE also and I am expecting their answer.

Dont be disheartened..Why dont you ask your referees to send the references nevertheless? I saw somewhere in this discussion board that the KCL system is having some problems. You never know, it could be one of those errors too.
Keep me posted on the progress of your applications to UCL and LSE. I am waiting for mine as well :-)

yeah...
I hope the KCL system has some problems. That's why I send them an email in order to express my surprise.
So you applied to UCL and LSE also...It seems to be more difficult than KCL...I thought KCL was easier than the other one...I don't expect to have a positive response...

If i understand correctly, you have already done your Masters programme in Law somewhere else..
KCL usually has a strict principle of not allow students who have already completed their LLM elsewhere.
they told me the same thing, When I asked them for a clarification, they said that I had already done an LLM earlier and therefore, they won't consider me for another LLM (though in a different filed altogether)

I never done an LLM. I have several french degrees in law : bachelor's degree, master's degree and diploma of advanced studies... And a diploma of legal practise as a barrister. So this is not the reason. I would like them to give me the reason...I asked them for that...

I have been rejected but you might be accepted. We don't have the same background...So just wait and see. Perhaps they don't want a lawyer with a civil-law background like me...

Hi...i heard that they have to reject a lot of good applicants this year, because there are so many. Friend of mine got rejected although his credentials are way better than mine. But I applied in Nov, he in jan. So, i think this could be the problem.

May be...So I am likely to be rejected by UCL and LSE too...As a result of this admission process we can say that they don't accept the best applicants...Very strange!

I apllied only at KCL, UCL, AND LSE. This means i am going to be rejected by all three. this is so sad. where else should I apply now for corporate law?
Posted Feb 28, 2010 11:05
I did the same than you ab 123...Try Pen law...It is well recognized...And they accept applications until the 31 March...Pen law seems to be one of the best american law school...

right now i am only looking at UK Law schools. US is too expensive. this is o disouraging. I have 76 % in my bachelors and am also a position holder in my uni. i so badly want to go there.

If they are not accepting any applications, then why don they close it on their website, instead of giving false hopes
Posted Feb 28, 2010 11:26
ab 123- Why dont you try QMUL (Queen Mary, University of London)or Nottingham? They too are supposed to be good for Corporate Law. I have got an offer from QMUL. Waiting news from UCL, LSE and Kings. I am having my fingers crossed and hoping to go to QMUL if everyone else rejects me. Of course as you might have seen in my earlier posts Kings seem to have rejected me without even looking at my references! :-(

As far as I know KCL is encountering serious problem with their computer system.
I called them three days ago and they explained me that my application was processed three weeks ago but they are not able to send out offers because their system is completely out of work. Probably you are just victim of this situation.
I hope this can help.
