hi, i've got the offer from glasgow but still not sure though whether to go to glasgow, aberdeen, nottingham or birmingham. have a question for you, why you choose glasgow?
Posted Mar 24, 2010 16:08
Well, I applied to and got into a lot of programs. In the end I decided on Glasgow because of the great international reputation of the university itself, the course modules, the city itself (so much to do!), conversations with alumni, I wanted to be in Scotland, the professors, the gorgeous campus... There is somewhere for everyone, but Glasgow is definitely for me. Hope to see you there... and feel free to message me if you'd like me elaborate some more.

Hi Everyone. I am also in dilemma, whether to choose Glasgow or Aberdeen? I would like to be sure that my choice will bring professional and financial benefits in the future.

Glasgow is one of a few UK universities in the top 100, placed at 13th in the UK and 79th in the World.
Aberdeen's law school is great as well, especially if you will be doing energy law, as it is not offered at Glasgow.
They are both wonderful law schools, and you will get different opinions on which is better depending on who you ask.
End the end, it will be up to your personal preferences. Do you prefer a big city or a smaller town? Things like that...

hey there! just got my offer for the international commercial law llm!! and I am def going to glasgow!
reputation counts but also the city (that never sleeps)
I need to feel that I'm in a lively place and not stranded in middle of nowhere plus all the major events take place in glasgow from music to theater, dance, sports you name it!
it is an ancient university with a good name and I expect the best out of it!
Question ; what is the best choice when it comes to accommodation?
Any suggestions / ideas?

Glad you are going to Glasgow! I'm very excited. Where are you from? What's your background?
I applied for housing through the school but they still have not gotten back to me. I ended up finding accommodation in the West End through making friends online. There are plenty of great websites for renting property, most of them direct you to a leasing agent. I've become somewhat of an expert on Glasgow flats through my search, feel free to PM me any questions you might have.

I'm going to be staying in a flat in the West End (private accommodation), though what the school offers are very nice as well. Good choice on Glasgow! Can't go wrong at a place like that.

Hi friends, I am still confused whether to go to Glasgow to do International Commercial law or to Aberdeen to take Oil and Gas law. Don't know what would be better for me. I've looked over modules available in both courses, the Glasgow's are more theoretical, in my opinion. But Oil and Gas is too specific course of study. Will I able to find a job in this field? This concerns me greatly.

If you are looking into entering the Oil and Gas field, go with that one... if you are unsure about exactly what you want to do when you graduate, then either option will work, with Glasgow giving you a little more flexibility. Just my two cents

Anyone else?
I've decided to go to Glasgow. Now looking for the accommodation for mature students with families. It is so difficult to do it not being there.
Also, in these days planning to apply for a visa. Greatly hope to get it.

Hi mate, regarding your expertise, what do you think is it possible to rent a one bedroom flat for a family consisting of 3 people for approximately 400-450 pounds?

Depends where you want to live. Short story is stay in the west end. I'd say for around 500 pounds you can get something nice there. Apply for the school housing first, and Google it from there, there are plenty of listings. I'll send you a few. Glad you are coming!

I've gotten a few emails about housing advice. I'm not from Glasgow but have done a good amount of research in preparation of moving there with my family. For those of you also curious, I'd try:
1. University Housing, which may or may not be for you, and that is handled through the school. There lots of info about this online.
2. For flats, talk to John C. Boyle at http://www.scotlet.co.uk/index.asp. I do not know him personally, and can not vouch for him in any way, only that he came highly recommend to me by a friend in Glasgow.
3. For a general google search, try www.clydeproperty.com , www.fineholm.co.uk or www.citylets.co.uk . Also, s1homes.com.
The big picture: Live in or very near the West End. The closer to the University, the better.
Hope this helps!

Hi, I am going to arrive in London on 3rd of September and next day to hold my way to Glasgow. As it is a quite different and far away country for me I am a bit nervous on this. How to get to Glasgow, where to stop and how quick I will be able to rent a flat there, these kind of stuff, Mates. Who will be in London on 3 Sept.? I mean I'd like to meet someone with whom I will not feel myself alone like in a desert. I suppose many of you feels the same.
