My application was complete on 16 March - I have still not heard back and on chasing, all they say is they've received lots of applications and are inundated.
Any one else going through this?
UCL - 2 months and still no news

Have you tried ringing admissions or the Faculty of Laws? Based on my experience, its very strange that they havent given you any feedback on your application after two months but anyway, I think I've seen other people round here with the same problem, namely Panthro...

Yes, spoken to them on phone and over email.
I am not too concerned as I have an offer from UChicago but it would be good to know about UCL so I can atleast have closure.

I get your point closure is everything. Just one question: if you did get an offer from UCL, what would you do?
Posted May 11, 2010 21:32
UChicago is about 2.5 times the cost of UCL at least but I feel it would be a better experience and institution, hence I still think it would be UChicago....
Having said that, I think the course offering and faculty at UCL is far superior to LSE or KCL etc.

The price is something to think about. Best of luck with your UCL application and, in case you get an offer and decide for UCL, I hope to see you there! However, good luck in Chicago. My boss went to UChicago for his LLM and really enjoyed it. Regarding the UCL/LSE/KCL debate, all I can say is: no comments. Dont want to engage in any passionate discussions over this. : )

Hi Guddu,
I am in the same situation as you. I applied more than two months ago and I am still waiting for an answer. I hope they make a decision very soon.

I have applied on March, 26 and recently I received an e-mail that I was recommended to the Admissions Office. Before that letter I didn't receive anything for more than 1,5 month. So, I think it is normal for UCL.

Ditto is my case. My application with the references was completed in feb, got an acknowledgment mail in march end and was supposed to get a response by may 12th as per the aforesaid. However nothing effective took place till date.
On the otherhand I am facing heat to go ahead with either of the offers that i got from QM, Durham, Edinburgh and NYU

My application was complete on 18th March. I hadn't heard anything after a month so emailed them, got a response saying they'd checked and it was in the system, then a couple of days later, on 26th April, I got the acknowledgement email telling me I should have a response by 7th June. I dread to think how many applications they must have if it is taking so long!

Right now they are very busy believe,,i see them running around the graduate office and they seem to have a lot of work,,,,,,3 more weeks :)

I got my offer yesterday after two months, so they may be close to reviewing your application.
Posted May 18, 2010 16:55
when did you receive the acknowledgment letter?
Posted May 18, 2010 18:38
Mine was complete at the beginning of March and I still haven't heard a peep. I probably wouldn't take it now anyway but it would be nice to at least get a response!

It is a bit outrageous. People who have applied need to know about the result in order to chose where they want to go (if they have several offers). Moreover they could need to organize their move in a new country.

My application was complete on the 12 of March and still no signs of even being forward to consideration.
I basically wrote them and told them if it does not go this week I will withdraw.
But still silent..

It is incredible how they can manage to be so incompetent. If you have received a high number of applications, get more people on the job - surely they are not short of tutors who can review applications.
I will not be taking their offer in any event as I waited long enough and committed elsewhere.

Dont want to sound like a jerk, but the previous posts only go out to prove that applying early is the best thing a prospective student can do I applied in November to UCL and got an answer (fortunately, a good one) in less than a month.

You can call to make sure that you have not got lost in the process, but I can see a late application taking some time. Once the process passes a certain date and there are only a limited number of places available, it would seem quite reasonable for the admissions team to simply collect applications, take no action on the ones which they feel will be competitive for the remaining places, and wait for the deadline to pass before sending out admissions/rejection letters. Depending on when your application was received, you may have come in right as the admissions team decided to withhold decision-making until the deadline, whenever that is/was. If you're really anxious, you might call them, as I suggested. Or, you can simply wait it out.

I called and e-mailed - they keep saying a reply will come soon. They law department had not even received the application from general admissions until a month after submitting it.
Personally, as I have taken up another offer with a scholarship, I am not as bothered, but rather curious as to the outcome out of interest more than anything else really.
