However, the introductory lectures take place before most of the activities for freshers so maybe we could go for lunch on the 29th or the 30th?
That's true. I will be in cambridge by 27th. So, 29th or 30th are both okay for me. Let's hear what others think about these dates.

Hey guys, please hold it there!! I remember being the one that seconded the motion for LLM Guide Gettogether; and with the powers vested in me as such, I hereby declare that I cannot be left behind in this decision; and to that I say, let's fix this a day later than the commencement date. Reason, wider partcipation, except u guys are already planning for boredom; some of us just got our CAS a day ago, soe still expecting, and like me, may not be arriving Cambridge befor Oct 1st. So let's make it fun, the larger the better, except u don't wana hear my story; LLM Guide experince share! All in favour???

Thank you JsDupont. I have contacted the PBI office and I wil update in this thread what the response is in case anyone has the same problem.

By the way, when is our LLM guide party/meet up going to take place? Looking at the orientation schedule, it seems like we are going to be quite busy.

Guys,
Here is the reply mail from the PBI office on our CAS Statement regarding course start and end dates: u may find that useful;

I am sorry about this error in your CAS.

I have added a sponsor note to your CAS. The sponsor note field is available to us when we wish to add explanatory notes to the CAS, or to inform the UKBA of errors in parts of the CAS which cannot be updated subsequently (for instance, new passport numbers).

This is the wording of the sponsor note, for your reference:

'Sponsor note: ERROR IN COURSE DATES: the course start date should be 01/10/2011 and the course end date should be 30/06/2012.'

This sponsor note has been added directly onto the UK Border Agencys system. You will not receive a new CAS statement, because these are generated from our own system. You do not need to include the CAS statement with your application because it is for your own use only, so this should not cause confusion in your application. However, you must make sure that the information in your application form matches the updated CAS.

I hope you will find this sponsor note satisfactory. If the information in the note is incorrect, or you would like us to change the wording, please do contact us at studentvisas@admin.cam.ac.uk. Otherwise, good luck with your application.

Best wishes
Maria

I smiled when I read your writing as you use great legal language. Anyway, I think we are still at a planning stage of this LLM Gettogether- still hearing the general direction on the date. Of course, we want to hear your story and try to include as many people (who wish to join) as possible.

Hey folks,

I will also be joining the LLM at Cam, but only confirmed funding recently; all the documents have been sent to the BOGS, my status has not been updated as confirmed yet though...

I know this might be quite late but apart from the college's booklet, I have received no other news from them. Excuse me if I seem lazy but I just can't seem to find any info regarding on-campus accomodation (excluding pricing and some info on the rooms offered by my college). Anyone knows how and if we can still book a room? I will be at Clare Hall by the way.

I will either arrive on September 24 or October 1, don't know yet (especially as I have not secured accomodation :D)

I am always available to go get a drink though !

Thanks you all !

Hi Skiia,
First, what date did ur documents arrive Cambridge? Mine was August 3, and I was just confirmed on Monday this week. Secondly, you cannot secure accomdation until u are confirmed; I think you need to call the BGS to find out ur status update. Its late indeed, and u cannot start talking about arrival date until these are resolved. Remember u still need to secure visa, which only comes after confirmation.

Meanwhile, what did you mean by confirming funding? From whom and when? If you don't mind

Thanks !

I understand I have no visa issue as I'm from the EU. My last document (financial undertaking) arrived last week. The BoGS had been pretty quick in updating my self-service page for the other ones though.

I confirmed funding with my bank actually, they agreed on the amount and terms of the loan last week too!

Thank you JsDupont. I have contacted the PBI office and I wil update in this thread what the response is in case anyone has the same problem.

By the way, when is our LLM guide party/meet up going to take place? Looking at the orientation schedule, it seems like we are going to be quite busy.

Guys,
Here is the reply mail from the PBI office on our CAS Statement regarding course start and end dates: u may find that useful;

Best wishes
Maria

Is there someone who bring family to Cambridge? Have you successfully gotten dependents visa?

There is a serious problem for LLM students who have family to get dependents visa after July 4, 2011. I understand that in order to get dependents visa, students (Tier 4 student) need to do a postgraduate level course of 12 months or longer at a Higher Education Institution under amended visa roles. However, Cambridge LLM is 9 month program, so we can not get dependent visa for our families. I believe that many students (including me) who have family want to live together in Cambridge. If it is impossible to bring my family (including just 1 month baby) to Cambridge, I may give up Cambridge LLM.

I am talking to visa team at Cambridge, but did not receive any good suggestion by this moment. If you have successfully obtain dependents visa or found good solution to the problem, please share the solution (I understand that we can bring our family members as Visitors. However, they can stay in the UK for only 6 months and there may be some problems regarding National Health Services).

Best.

Hi Faraway Light

I've got dependents visa successfully because the government of my country financially sponsors my study at Cambridge. With the official sponsorship you can bring your family if your study course duration is more than 6 months. You can find the regulations regarding issuing Tier 4 dependents visa through website. Good luck to you!
