Dear Flowergirl,
unfortunately, the Degree Committee is still deciding on whether to accept my academic result(9,65 instead of 9,70)- despite the fact that I have been offered a full scholarship by the Trusts :(
In any case, I'm keeping my fingers x'd that they accept me and that we see each other in Cam in October

Hey guys,
Is there anyone out there still waiting for Confirmation? Or am I alone? No college membership, no update on other conditions sent, no confirmation! And then there is the long procedure for visa application which one can only start after confirmation, and the 28 day fund requirement for teir4 student visa!
Please am I panicking unnecessarily? With less than 2 months to the session?

I am pretty much in the same situation.. The only difference is that I have been offered college membership.. I am panicking as well.. I dont know if everything will work out in time for my visa to be obtained and to secure accommodation.. And I had sent all my documents by the end of May!!! This delay is very disrespectful.. I am completely disappointed with the University..

Hi llm_in_england,
Then i probably shouldnt be heard complaining because i was just made an offer of admission on 23rd May, notified of my offer conditions on my self-service in July, almost 2 months after, and expected to meet them before 31st July, although i ended up getting them delivered on August 3rd. And here I am.
well, when the delay/lapse is not the student/applicants fault, he/she shouldnt be made to bear the brunt, visa/acomodation and otherwise. I agree, the system leave too much to be desired.

Your situations sound quite bizzarre... Have you phoned them to check whether your documentation has arrived?
Fortunately, I do not need a visa and I have already secured college accomodation, but I need the confirmation of the BoGS for scholarship institutions, student loan agencies etc. Since I sent my docs last week, I am still patient, but honestly the delay in your cases is very disrespectful indeed. I do not know if they realise how many issues heavily depend on the prospects of studying in another country: scholarships, educational loans and grants, college accomodation, terminating your current rent, terminating your current employment contract, booking flights, cancelling back-up seats at other universities etc.

Exactly! It is completely disrespectful and is making me consider going to other universities..
I have contacted the BGS and all they tell me is that they proceed with the documents in the order they arrive.. They have my documents, but they have others documents they have to deal with before mine.. Apparently, it doesnt matter if Im coming from across the ocean, need a visa, a place to live, etc.. Lovely, right?

Just a brief calculation: if they process the docs in the order they arrive, and if you sent your docs in May and are waiting until today, and I sent my docs last week, I reckon that I will not be in Cambridge before November! Seriously, I think they will eventually hire some extra personnel and speed up the process by the end of August because they just can't afford losing half of their postgraduate students, especially the overseas students...
By the way, has anyone else noticed the huge amount of views this thread has got compared to threads about other universities?

Obviously things at other universities run smoothly in comparison to Cambridge and people needn't bother about any formalities in mid August. People from other universities are probably having fun at the seaside while we speculate endlessly about Cam's ridiculous administration!
Thankfully my academic condition has been accepted, but who knows when I'll get my Confirmation of Admission which,as we all know,is essential for getting the visa..sigh..

Ah! Guys guys guys! This is so so so annoying, unacceptable and ridiculous! I can't believe we are actually having this discussion! The supposedly current No.1 world university? My blood is getting hot. I suggest those of us who can, pls contact any past Cambridge LLM students for an idea of what it was during their time. Maybe they can help tell us how this whole shit will play out finally. What u think?

Hi Cantab2011!
Did you receive your confirmation via email or by checking your online self-service account? I find myself compulsively logging in at least five times per day.

You won't get confirmation via email but you will eventually receive a confirmation letter.

5 times is rather an understatement for me; every 30minutes! If not less

I found out by checking my self-service. You can always call the BGS to find out what's going on.. but I am anyways sure that we all will make it, this is just an administrative thing..

I received my confirmation of admission today on Camsis! Within a week after I sent my documents. Unexpectedly fast I have to say.
