Wow, as usual, I see a lot of Indians in this post which is not surprising at all as we have about 30-40 Indians who will be passing out this year. The exams are over and dissertation is taking its toll. Anyway for all those joining this year, accommodation will cost u about 400 pcm and additional expenses will cost u around 300 pcm and for all baffled about travelling, weekly oyster pass with student discount will only cost u £19.30. Price of a can of stella is £1.20 but if u buy from off-license(which u c everywhere btw) u get 6 for £5. . For all those vegetarian there are a lot of bangladeshi shops that sell everything from frozen parathas to maggis, all masalas etc. Rahim's departmental store is one of the favourite shops for Indians which is just across the street from Stocks Court (this is where u find most of the Indians, pakistanis and other Asians). The accommodations in Mile end campus are really good and I'd have to say Maurice Court is the best of them all although Hatton has a bathtub, friends I know that are staying there hardly use them and Selin Court, Lodge House, Chesney House and Chapman House are very small in comparison to Maurice. Drinking by the canal is an experience like i can't explain but try to avoid smoking on campus as they are really strict.
U get to choose ur specialisation and modules in the first two weeks. Most of the classes for banking and finance law modules are held at charterhouse square which is a minutes walk from Barbican tube station. Some Company law modules will be held at IALS and Senate house. IP classes are generally held in Senate although u might have some modules in UCL with students from UCL and Kings. The mile end library will be open 24 hrs during the exams plus u can always access any other library of UOL. The post graduate research centre is a very nice place to study in a quite environment which as the name suggests is only accessible by post grads.
All in all u'll have a nice year so make the most of it.
