Hi,
I am a Lawyer practising in India after completing my graduation in Law. I'm moving to London shortly and wish to practise there. The new QLTS rules are not quite clear. Can someone tell me if I would be required to do an LLM / work in UK before I can take up these tests? I have 5 years work experience in India.

No. You ought to be fine to receive a certificate of eligibility under the new scheme, at least under my reading of it.

hi,
I am a lawyer practising in India as well. Wish you had posted this before 1st september because after 1st september the QLTT is changed into QLTS as u must know and the new QLTS rules, as available on the official website clearly state List of recognised jurisdictions and qualified lawyers. The lawyers from countries which does not appear on this list, are not eligible to apply. They will regularly update the list of recognised jurisdictions may be after 5 years. But the sad news for you is that as of now India in no longer in the list of recognised jurisdictions.

"Blunder excludes Indian lawyers from QLTS"
http://www.thelawyer.com/blunder-excludes-indian-lawyers-from-qlts/1005427.article
Hundreds of foreign qualified lawyers could be prevented from being able to practise law in England and Wales due to an administrative blunder on the new Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS).
The new scheme, which has been undergoing revisions by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for more than two years, has neglected to list key jurisdictions such as India, Canada and New York as areas, which can take the compulsory test.
