Yes, i also got a mail from Mariene Biese
Was this in reply to an email you had sent?
Yes. I emailed the faculty asking for my status. Plus, the reply contained the "your college may not be your first choice college".

Congratulations on getting admitted into Oxford.
I wanted to ask when did you send your email asking for your status? Thanks.

I believe that implies your placement in Siberia College or Uzbekistan College. I hear it's a long and snowy trek from the law building.

I didn't get a place at Oxford. Congrats to everyone who did! That means I'm off to Cambridge, but I will be deferring for the year so I hope you all have a fantastic time at your respective universities and enjoy being in England!

To all of you who have gotten an offer from Oxford, many congrats!
Big Suze, if you will be deferring your offer this year, it will mean that you'll have another shot at Oxford next year. All the best!
Posted Mar 24, 2009 16:32
do you think you'll be able to resist the temptation of e-mailing Oxford long enough...?
Posted Mar 24, 2009 18:17
Big Suze, sorry to hear that. Did you email Oxford to find out?
There's nothing like a Cambridge offer to sweeten any disappointment on the Oxford front. How come you are deferring for the year?
Posted Mar 24, 2009 18:43
Big Suze,
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get into Oxford, but congrats on getting into Cambridge. I have gotten into Cambridge, too, and I'm also thinking about deferring for a year.
To those who have been either rejected or accepted to Oxford, did you e-mail the faculty to get confirmation, or have you received a letter?
Many thanks,
The Prof

I emailed Oxford...and received my 'rejection' within the hour.
I am deferring for a number of reasons -
1) I'm doing a four-year LLB because I was on the erasmus exchange programme in France last year...and so for my sanity, I need a rest from studying for a while;
2) I am poor and need to now earn the money to pay for the LLM - I've got an interview for the Law Commission in April :-S ;
3) My boyfriend still has one year left on the LLB and we don't want to live apart. So deferring means we can both move to Cambridge.
So there you have it...!

Big Suze,
Thanks for the info re Oxford. I emailed them on Monday, but haven't heard back from them. Don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. Anyway, all the best for the future. Enjoy the year out!!

I e-mailed Ms Biese and received my rejection after a few hours. Didn't apply to any other programme - I decided to start a bar training ("just" 3 years:) and possibly PhD in my country.
Congrats for all those who are in!
PS. I e-mailed Ms Malloy too (no response since Monday). Some of you were asking for e-mail addresses of Ox staff - there's some search engine at the university's website...

Thanks for the info, Ladies and Gents. It's good to know that I'm not the only one without a response and that Oxford are not just e-mailing applicants who have been accepted. That puts my mind at ease. Now I'm just going to wait for the letter. I'm a UK applicant so I don't think it will be long.
All the best.
