Does anybody knows how long it takes to get your offer letter from Queen Mary?
I received an email on april 17th saying that they offer me a place, but that I have to wait until I get the offer letter by mail. The email says that it will take about one week to send the letter.
I have been waiting now for 2 weeks, but still haven't received the letter. Is this normal?

I don't know where you're in the world, but I'm in Brazil and mine didn't come in before 30 days...

I second beicon's reply - u should tell from where you are. I am from Italy, and I have been waiting for no longer than 2 weeks, even if I heard in other dicussion boards that some times it takes longer... but I don't know why - probably their administrative problems.
However if you feel they are taking too long, try to hurry them up a bit by email.

I live in Belgium.
I called yesterday to the administration of Queen Mary, and the looked in the sytem. Apparently, the letter was send last week. The lady on the phone said that I shouldn't worry, and the letter will arrive soon.

If that hasnt been enough to calm you down, you can ring admissions and theyll email the letter over to you. My fiancée did that and they sent the letter on the very same day

Hi everybody,
I also got an e-mail on 1 May and they tell me my offer letter should arrive in 2-3 weeks. I will wait until next week, then i will try to call them. Should I be worried since my IELTS score is a little below their requirements? Wonder what my offer letter says about this...

Hi there
is your overall IELTS score little below their full or minimum English language requirements?

My overall IELTS score fulfills their requirements (which is 7) however while they also ask a minimum 7 for writing, mine is below that. What do you think my offer letter will say?
Posted May 10, 2010 21:51
that's great! ok.. so you shouldn't be too worried as you scored very well in the test. If you scored 6.5 or below in the IELTS sub-test in writing probably you will be required to attend in-sessional Critical Thinking and Writing in Law Programme tought by them - which is free for students who are taking their LLM at QMUL.

I had to send them email reminders twice to get the offer letter in paper. The letters took one and a half months to arrive.Sine it took so long, they sent me the online link with my user name and password, so that I can accept the offer online. What the offer letter says is basically the same thing and the conditions if any etc...
Why dont you call them up and remind them. In case they get late now, your visa applications too will get delayed since QMUL has to send your details to their immigration and get you a CAS number, which you have to indicate in your visa application. Under the new rules, you cant apply without the CAS. You wont get the CAS, till you accept the offer. Thats how it works.
Good luck!
My IELTS IS 8. So there probably wasnt any problem

Anyone kindly share their experience??

Thats great news!
I got the offer in february, but got the CAS only in late April. However you might get it earlier than that, since the programme is starting in September and you will have to apply for your visa on time, before that.
Best check with them and tell them to send your CAS asap.

I surely hope so since apparently i need to take the 8 weeks pressessional course starting late July. Anyone here also taking the pressessional course?
Btw when are we expected to pay the tuition fee? We don't need to pay the tuition fee (or deposit) to get the CAS, right?

Since you are starting with the 8 weeks pressessional course you probably will have to pay the tuition fees then. I am not too sure. You should check that with QMUL.
You dont have to pay anything for the CAS.
Since you are getting there in July and you havent got your CAS yet, best thing now is to call them up and get it soon, so that you can apply for your visa.

I guess the fees can be paid anytime before or on the date of registration prior to start of classes from the tentative 22nd sept. Though I have no idea about the folks who is going to take the pre-sessional course.
btw, did u people already applied for the accomodation? and where are you looking for your accomodation..UoL Halls or the Mile End ones?
