Hello Felipe.
Great to see therell be loads of Brazilians walking about the corridors at UCL
A general question, addressed not only to Brazilians, but to whomever is going to London in September, have you figured out the accommodation issue yet?

Congratulations guys and girls!
I did my LLM at UCL. Definitely one of the best years of my life! And many of my coursemates share my sentiment! Made many life-long friends from all over the world.
You wont regret it. Great atmosphere, very vibrant and awesome student life.
If you are not from the UK like me, you will find that UCL is strategically situated in London. Walking distance (i.e. within 30 mins) to many major attractions - Leicester Sq, Trafalgar Sq, British Museum. British Library, Regent's Park, Oxford Street etc.
And dont miss out on the Career Presentations at UCL from the law firms!! Most of the top UK firms will be coming to campus for recruitment including the Magic Circle Firms!

Hi Blady, thanks for sharing this info. Great to know alumni hold UCL in high regard!!!

beicon,
I have not yet figured out accommodation in London, but I have already sent my application for UCL's Student Residence. I was told that an answer on that should only be disclosed on mid-August.
The problem is that I am landing in the UK on the last week of July, so I will have to find some other place to stay rather than the student residence.
Now I am waiting for the CAS so that I can apply for the Tier 4 Student UK VISA. Last week I sent UCL some passport information for the issue of the CAS. Just out of curiosity, anyone else?

Hi mikse. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, cant help you with the visa thing cause I wont need one, sorry! But on the accommodation issue, Ive been trying to work something out on my own because I cant just sit about and wait for UCLs accommodation office to start sending out offers. Im about to book a room with Unite Ive heard some nice thing about the company and they do seem to be trustworthy. Maybe you should also have a look: www.unite-student.com. There are Nido, University Hall and Liberty Living also who deserve an online visit

Thanks, beicon. I will have a look on that.

Hi mikse.
I'm with you in the tier 4 visa group. Sent in my info a couple weeks ago. I hope we'll get some more guidance once the CAS's are issued, because read about the tier 4 process on the Home Office (I think) website and I found it rather complicated. Any past tier 4 students who can comment on this?

Hey Everyone...
@ Judy Law - I am from Curitiba. it will be nice to find more Brazilians.
@ Beicon - I often go to São Paulo to work, maybe we could have lunch and discuss further ideas for accommodation. I believe sharing a bigger flat could be an affordable option...
I am already counting the weeks..
Take care you all!

Hi
For those of you who are arriving in London earlier (say July or August) do note that many of the UCL student halls are open to the public for accomodation (as they will be vacated by UCL students returning home). You can book and pay online:
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/silva/residences/information
They should be cheaper than renting private accomodation. Also, the halls are located near UCL, which means they are in central London within walking distance (or a short trip by bus) to many tourist attractions.

Hie everyone!!
I need to take an english proficiency test IELTS with 7.5 bands. It is mandatory for me to take this exam to catch up with their requirements. My test is scheduled on 19th of this month which is day after. I am very nervous.
If I could not make up to 7.5 and I score a 7 then what? will they cancel my admission to UCL? Is there any way to negotiate with them regarding the bands?
Regards
Neha

Noticed that those accepted are grouping up on different websites. I've therefore set up the following facebook group, where hopefully, those accepted, can get to start knowing each other: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=119862898047576&ref=search&sid=596438507.1729422510..1

Hi. My fiancée didnt get the 7.5 and we tried asking for some leniency didnt work. If you cant meet the English language requirement (regardless of whether youve missed it by 0.5 or 4.0), theyll tell you to attend the pre-sessional English course. But I dont know what happens if you cant meet the minimum grades over the pre-sessional English
