Hey you guys... I have been accepted in the International Commercial Law LLM of the University of Nottingham... I am really excited about attending it, since it appears to me that they have courses really focused in Finance and Trade Finance (which are the subjects I am passiote about). Further, the University of Nottingham Law School has been ranked 4th equal among UK Law Schools in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (and I believe thats very good), what makes me even more excited about it.
However, I have also been accepted in the University of Edinburgh (Commercial Law LLM) - which has been ranked 5th among UK Law Schools in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. It appears that such LLM program is also very well regarded and that the city is really, really nice.
Does anyone from this Post know how does Nottingham compare to Eddinburgh, as far as reputation, living costs, living style and content of the LLM courses?
Best Regards!!

Hey Guys,
Im a 26 yr old guy from India and I have been accepted for the Fall 09 LLM (General) Course at NLS. I have done my fair bit of research and have been able to deduce that it is a very prestigious University.
Some people who have a general idea of how things regarding the legal profession are U.K are concerned, have told me that its a great university, but may this may not culminate in it being as recognized as any of the 4-5 London University Colleges viz. UCL,KCL, SOAS etc. Since the graduate prospects are slightly higher here.
I personally believe that so long as one gets in any of the top Uni's, he may go further than even an LSE graduate, if he absorbs or takes home more knowledge rather than goofin around in those 9 months. So jus do full justice to it.

Hey Colorado! I am sure you will get accepted in the University of Nottingham.
It appears to me that the International Commercial Law LLM of the University of Nottingham has GREAT modules (courses)... if you see, they are quite specialized... very good indeed. Thats one of the reasons I am leeding towards Nottingham...

mmm, my top courses about the LLM INT.COMM LAW are:
Commercial LAw of the EU,International Trade and Banking and Finance. But I have got a question. I am eager to pursue a career in Corporate, do u think do I have chances to suit in a corporate team with this LLM? I have not seen any course of corporate law. Thank you very much

Yes, I agree with you. The International Commercial Law LLM is much more focused... its is not as general as the LLM of Commercial law of other Unis... thats the reason I am considering it so much. You see, if you are eager to pursue a career in Corporate law, it will be usefull to you. Law firms need people who know trade finance and banking. If you get accepted, go for it. Thats my opinion.
