well that was the only first date available! imagine,,,the other dates were already taken,,so the earliest was August 6.

Im currently living in Vienna, Austria (Im not Austrian tho, Im from Latin America) so I applied to the british embassy here. Apparently they are quite busy and therefore most of the dates are taken!!

Thats so good you all got your visas!

I went yesterday and well everything i did the biometrics and handed my documents. The women there didnt know much about the document i needed to give her i think because she wasnt expecting me to give her the appendix 8 as well.

However i must say im very very worried because of the following:

I have a few questions i should have done before but well its too late now and here they are!!

I was very very confused on question 6.8 of the apprendix 8 because they ask me to calculate the amount of pounds i need per month with the total number of months my course lasts (WHYY?? WERENT WE SUPPOSED TO ONLY HAVE MONEY FOR 9 MONTHS I DONT GET THIS) i did A LOT of research online and everybody said to ignore they and only put 7,200 which are the fees for people studying in London. Even many universities websites have guidance on to complete this appendix and all 6 universities advised this !! But what the hell the question says to calculate on the total number of months the course lasts..i followed the rest and put 7,200 but now im freaking out thinking they wanted me to put 9,600 pounds.

AND THEN ON question 6.20 of the appendix 8, i put i had no course fees standing but where it said maintenance i put 7,200 pounds (which is what the ask in london) so my total putstanding balance is 7,200 right. HOWEVER I WAS NOT SURE IF I NEEDED TO PUT 9600 OR 7200 SINCE QUESTION 6.8 CONFUSED THE HELL OUT OF ME IN THE FIRST PLACE! OLGUN HOW DID YOU DO THISS??

and the other thing is the exchange rate they use to see if you have the money or not...my bank statement say the amount in USD and GBP and when the bank did the letter it says i have 7,079 POUNDS IN MY ACCOUNT (and the amount they ask is 7,200 pounds) i just got the bank letter a few days ago and it was a mess to change this so im applying anyway but im very very worried that they might refuse my visa cause there will be apparently a balance of 121 i wont have and if they as strict as i think they are they might say u are missing 121 pounds according to that exchange rate so visa refused! that would be really mean but since they are so strict im very scared. I also attached my parents bank statement and a letter certified by Notary Public saying they will pay for my expenses etc but i dont know if that will count.

Hope to hear from you

Dear Pucca,
Dont worry, you will get your visa....am sure the letter from your parents also counts though they specifically mention that the money should be in your account but its just a very small amount that you are falling short and that too its coz of exchange rate.

I submitted 2 bank a/c statements. One which was solely held by me and the other was a joint account with my husbands name on it too. We got my name joined to his account later coz of this new visa requirement. Besides that he also gave a letter saying that he would be sponsoring me. I got my visa in 6 days so dont think that will be a problem for you.
Goodluck!!!

hi Pucca, just wish u had tabled this b4 submitting i wld have adviced you candidly to go bak and add more money to your bank accont then ask your bank to print another statement bearing the specified ammount based on the conversion rate. however, I wld like to ask if you checkd the oanda website cos the converrsion rate at the oanda website superceeds the conversion rate stated by your bank.( that is what the UKBA wld use to assess level of funds). the other fears about filling of your forms is uncalled for. you are absolutely correct. if you have finishes paying your tuition fees, all you just need sice yould be in london is 7200 and not 9600.
nevertheless, lets be hopeful . you may be granted your visa. you have done your best to make up for the deficit by including a letter from your parents, that should be enough to grant you but at the discretion of the entry clearance officer.(if the account is not jointly held by you and your parents)
cheer up and be hopeful. wish you all the best

Hey Pucca,

I must admit Vienna, is one most beautiful cities that I have visited. I was there in Feburary this year, it was snowing and was extremely cold but it was magnificent. I want to go there again in Spring...Frankly speaking, I liked it more than the spring of Paris..:) but still wanna see wat the city looks like in Spring.

I am an Indian and have moved to Dubai last year ..... I too was surprised that my visa took just 6 days...coz this year it seems they have rejected a lot of visa especially of those who were going to some unkown universities or have serious funding issues.

As I said in my last post that your paper work is strong and u neednt worry. Please let all of us know when u finally get your visa.

Good luck again!!!

you are apparently one of the most contributors on this site and that's why a lot of pple out here is rooting for u.u are undoubtedly a very good person and because of this i can say for sure u are in my prayers.

not too woory, even if there are any mistakes in your form (not saying there are) whoever goes through your form will overlook it and ur visa will be granted.

At this point, all u should do is pray hard and be rest assured that come septmber 2009, ur place in UCL will not be vacant.
