UK regulations concern Nothern Ireland (like Wales and Scotland). Southern Ireland is a different country. Their rules "might" become familiar. Whether they will, I have no idea. Yet.

hi guys, these new rules are quite draconian and grossly bureaucratic. i am a nigersian student and need ova 20T with these rules bt wat I exactly dont understand is if one must have this cash in his local currency account or in domiciliary account in GBP?
pls answer
Hi patto, from what ive read it seems that the money can be either in GBP or local curreny as long as the conversion of the amount you deposit into the account is equal to the amount ib GBP they are requesting. You have to keep on checking the current conversion rates to be sure you have deposit the corrent amount in your local currency.

hi..is this applicable to those aaplying in ireland as well or is it confined to UK alone.suppsoe one wishes to apply to say trinity college dublin.then under such circumstances does the same rule apply?
No DARE.DEVIL, it only applies to the UK (Great Britain and Northearn Ireland)
Dublin is the capital of Republic of Ireland so the requirements are totally different.
Here is what I found in your case:
Citizens of India residing in India have to apply for a visa to Ireland in person at the nearest consulate of Ireland in India. Please note that the application procedures and fees may vary depending on where you apply. If there is no consulate of Ireland in India there might be a consulate of Ireland in one of the neighboring countries that covers the jurisdiction of India.
Go to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in India and it contains all the requirements that Indian students have to comply with in order to enter Ireland as a student:

Hope this helps you...bye :o)

has anyone got their visa letter ? appears fresh letters will have to be issued since not only has the data required in the letter changed but the letter itself cannot be older than 6 months when you apply. Has anybody checked with their college on the issue of fresh letters ?

I called UCL and informed them about this new requirements. They said the new visa letters will be ready in a few months (2 or something like that) and then theyll send the letters to the students.

hi guys, it seems the new visa letter is gonna take a long time. i wonder wats taking it so long . im yet to receive any response. also talking about the required/stipulated funds, is it to be deposited in a current account or savings account? it"s like the new guidelines states that GBP5400 for 9months should be maintained for 28days prior to application for students outside london and GBP7200 for 9months if ull b in london This contrasts to the initial stated GBP7200 and GBP9600 respectively. someone please correct me if im wrong.
Thanks
Thanks

thanks. u"v jst confirmed my point.

Further, can anyone confirm where in the brochure does it say that visa applications are not accepted more than 90 days in advance? I am trying to confirm that, but I cant... I was just wondering when shoul I apply for the visa. I want to do it as early as I can!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

hey guyz,..
must the money be in the students name and not in one's parent name?
it obviously means we are handicapped till we receive these visa letters which is taking forever to be issued.

naija guy, the money should b in an acct in yr name or a joint acct with yr name if u are mor than 17( ADULT STUDENT) for a child student i.e less than 17, the money could b either in yr parent/guardian acct or in a joint acct bearing yr name and whosoeva is sharing the acct with u. without the visa letter u can do nothing. it simply means u r losing 30 points out of 40. so just b patien for yr visa letter. cheerio.
