LSE LL.M

Somewhat unbelievably, given that I live in London and have accepted a place at LSE for September, I've never set foot on campus. Am planning to go on a bit of a field trip in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone wants me to take pics / ask questions / pick up anything while I'm there, let me know!

Hopefully it won't seem TOO scary......

Hah. No. There's a friendly penguin.

Well, I've joined (and outed myself, no doubt!) I can see I'm going to spend a few hours writing a book list based on your blog, bookcrazy - am due for an amazon spree!

I got an unconditional offer from LSE about a week ago. Just waiting on Cambridge now. Trying to chase down scholarships now. Thank god the GBP is crashing...it makes it a good year to be a foreign student in the UK (well for us Canadians anyways). Anyone know if Cambridge fees are cheaper than LSEs?

I'm in the same boat... chasing down funding! The SA Rand vs Pound has improved slightly, but funding is still going to be tight. Any ideas when the LSE awards will be finalised?

Oh, and fees at Cambridge are slightly more expensive, but living expenses make the package deal at Cambridge about 5000 pounds cheaper than LSE.

This is not correct at all.

The fees at LSE are:
UK/EU £9,888; overseas £14,904

At Cambridge, the fees are:
UK/EU £4,520; overseas £11,850
Plus about £2,300 in college fees.
(see http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/gradstud/funding/costs/courses/costs2010.pdf)

In addition, as you rightly point out, living expenses in London are higher. It may also be worth keeping in mind that the LLM at Cambridge is 9 months, while the LSE LLM is 12 months (the last three of which may however be spent away from the school).

I stand corrected. Apologies. I calculated my total costs for LSE (12 months) to to include Fees 14904, College Fees 8160 and Living Expenses 13200, but at Oxford it amounted to Fees 17105, College Fees 1992 and Living Expenses 10800.

There are college fees at LSE?
And perhaps we are confusing Oxford and Cambridge.
Either way, best of luck in your LLM.
