It is good to know that they abide to their promise to return to you in eight weeks. My eight weeks end in 2 weeks. Let us hope for a positive outcome.

Well in my case its been more than 8 weeks (2 months) and Im still waiting for a reply. They acknowledged my application on November 3.

I received my acceptance to the LLM on Monday 5th Jan. It was give or take 8 weeks from my application. It gives a 6 week deadline to accept it.
I've one problem though, I'm waiting on Cambridge to get back to me...could I accept LSE and then decline it if I do get an offer from Cambridge?

LSE is a wonderful school and has many outstanding programs. Anyone admitted into the school is very fortunate. However, from an American perspective, its law program lacks the name recognition and reputation of Oxford or Cambridge (both of which are viewed as world class rivals of Yale/Harvard).

The same with me... I have not submitted my LSE application yet.. and am still thinking as I have 6.5 in writing in IELTS.
Do all of you who have sent the applications to LSE have met the language criteria?
I didnt take the IELTS/TOEFL as my education was entirely in English and i finally submitted my LSE application today.....feel so relieved!

Any deposit fee?
Jesus, I want to receive an answer so badly...

hada, perhaps it would be better to inform LSE of your decision closer to the 6 week deadline, regardless of whether you accept or decline your place in the LLM class. The drawback there is while they are awaiting your decision, others on the waiting list cannot be offered a place until you decline.
crimlawyer, it would be best that all your decisions arrive on or about the same time. With all the offers on the table, you will be able to make a better decision. BTW, arent you applying to U.S. law schools as well? Good luck on your application. Hope you make it.
The LLM programme at the LSE is a relatively small one, administered by a department of law, rather than a law school. The law student population at the postgraduate level is less than 5% of the total school population (taught masters and research degrees combined), despite the fact that more than 50% of the entire school population are registered postgraduates. As the name suggests, LSE primarily specialises in economics (utilising an inter-disciplinary approach to encompass the rest of the social sciences. By liberally construing the meaning of social science, the study of law was incorporated into the schools curricula, despite the fact that it remains first and foremost a large economics department). Most who attend the LSE read for the MSc, and possess prior training from the above institutions with much larger faculties and resources.

Opinio,
If all schools had the same weight for me, I would be happy to receive answers at the same time, but LSE and CLS are my preferred. Also, I will be in london by the end of february, And having an answer by then would be pretty good...

crimlawyer,
LSE and CLS have a close institutional alliance and suitable arrangements may be made. The purpose, I believe, for this collaborative effort is to give opportunities for LLMs to "internationalise" their educational experience.
I am confident that before the end of February, you may have a decision by the LSE. How is Columbia Law coming along? They have a great law school, and have some of the most innovative courses among American law schools.

I was accepted at LSE. I got an admission with an unconditional offer. I am thrilled.

A technical question. When embark changes because you have an offer did you receive also a mail? It would be a good reason to stop checking every hour. Thanks.
Posted Jan 15, 2009 14:34
Hahahahaha. Great, Inspired... I've been doing this for a while now... It would be great to know that you receive an e-mail...
Posted Jan 15, 2009 15:24
No, I think they dont. Edinburgh has also an online tracker and they didnt send me an email. But maybe LSE its different! it would be good because i m getting tired of checking my status like 4 times per day!!
