I know a lot of people come to this site looking for peace of mind and state their academic background, expecting someone will say to them: "Not to worry, you will be accepted". I never thought I would be one of those people, but as you start thinking about things, you realise how great it would be to hear some nice and comforting words.
Therefore, I would like to ask anyone if they could give me a hint, whether or not I have good chances of being accepted. I went to a respected law school in my country and got fairly good grades (somewhat equivalent to the UK upper second class). I have a very good working experience. I have worked in some very important transactions and my name was posted twice in the LatinLawyer website (a british publication related to the law market in Latin America). I am still to sit the IELTS exam, but I think I have good chances of geeting the grades I need.
Based on the above, would anyone say that I at least have a chance at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, UCL or Kings?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Looking for some peace of mind

I doubt you'd have a chance at Cambridge or Oxford, as they both require 1st class degrees and don't place much emphasis on work experience but you'd probably get an offer or 2 if you apply to the other 3, providing your application and references are in good order. Good luck!

I second the opinion of Marcus Tullius Cicero!

Thank you Santa and MTCicero for your reply. I also think it will be quite hard to get a positive answer from Cambridge and Oxford. But I think I have a chance at the other three. I forgot to mention, but I am also applying for Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Guess I have some chance there too. Thanks again.

Yes i also think you should try edinburgh, ucl, kings etc. Cambridge and Oxford are harder to get in. But please hurry because there is mo much time left my dear friend!
VERY IMPORTANT: Excellent recommendation letters and a very well written personal statement!

Oxbridge normally requires your grades to be the equivalent to a first class degree, so you may have problems gaining entry. But, I doubt you'll have any problems getting into LSE, KCL or UCL. LSE, KCL, QMUL and UCLs' LLM programmes are highly recognised, but offer a more specialist legal education and lots of networking.
That said, you shouldn't be discouraged from applying to Oxbridge, I know several of people who have gained entry to postgrad courses (albeit normally the DPhil) without achieving a first class degree or the equivalent (on a cynical note, they have all been international students paying the exorbitant fees).

Thank you all for your support. I will be sure to try Oxbridge, but I guess I have better chances with the other schools - I liked Aberdeen very much, think I have a chance there.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
