LLM UCL / KCL / LSE / QMUL 2017-18

Hi guys!

I've applied for these four universities (LSE, KCL, UCL and QMUL), and I've received an offer from QMUL for an LLM in Public International Law a week after I've sent my application. I'm still waiting for the three others. Has anyone received any offer from LSE, KCL and/or UCL? :-) If yes, how long did it take to receive an offer?

Thank you very much and good luck to everyone!

I've heard that LSE will not start handing out offers to LLM applicants until January.

Oh ok! Thank you for that. Just checked on their website and you're right.

Has anyone received any update from KCL and UCL? The wait is making me really nervous... I just checked on last year's discussion, and applicants from last year had received updates from both universities by the beginning of November, which is why I'm freaking out :-D

Btw, anyone applying for Cambridge and Oxford as well?

KCL had a major system outage in October that lasted about two weeks, so that could very well be the reason for the delay. When did you apply?

Got an email a couple of hours ago from LSE... Got rejected unfortunately :-( I was surprised though, I thought they'd only release their decisions in January 2017...

I sent my application on the 27th of October, and my 2nd referee sent her reference on the 7th of November. Got rejected today on the 17th of November, so it took them 10 days to assess my application.

Well. Let's wait for KCL and UCL now :-)

That's weird. Maybe there was some objective requirement you did not fulfill.

I emailed my lecturer about this, and her guess would be that perhaps my rejection was based on a formal requirement I do not satisfy rather than a detailed analysis on my application as a whole - in regard to the rapidity with which I received their email. I definitely have a 2.1 and I've got a couple of internships (incl. one I'm quite proud of), so of course I would have appreciated a more detailed feedback, as their email was really short and vague. But then their email clearly said "The decision of the Graduate School, however, is final. We are not able to enter into further correspondence about the decision."

I've just been unconditionally offered acceptance at QMUL. It took them only four days to assess my application. They say I have 30 day to accept or decline their offer. Does someone know if there's a fine I can pay after that?

@idn4ihl Hey! I had the same experience with my application to the LSE this year. Received an email of rejection just about 15 days of sending in my application (which was pretty strong in my view). I was quite surprised tbh because I wasn't receiving a reply so soon. But I did talk to my seniors who had applied last year and they said the same as your Lecturer, that perhaps the rejection was based on a formal requirement which I did not fulfill rather than an detailed analysis of my application. I also received the same vague email as you did. It is pretty much dismal that we cannot contact them further as to inquire what went wrong.

Congratulations! Are you going to accept the offer, or are you waiting for responses from other universities?

I've also received an offer from QMUL, and have also been given 30 days to respond to my offer. However, I'm waiting for responses from UCL and King's College before responding to my QMUL offer... Do you know what happens if you accept the offer - are you definitely bound to go to QMUL? Or can you change your mind if - hypothetically - you receive from an other university?

@khan2475 Hey! Oh I'm really sorry about this. I was indeed surprised by the rapidity with which I received the rejection email, and to be honest it's pretty much dismal, as you said, that we cannot contact them to inquire what went wrong... At least it would have given us the opportunity to improve our other applications in the future.

Are you applying for other universities? If yes - good luck! :-)

nope :-( how about UCL? Seeing from last year's discussion, at this stage of the year, both universities have already started responding to applications...

Hi everyone !

So far - I have only heard from :
- QMUL, got accepted two weeks ago- but I have to answer within one month ...
- LSE, got rejected very quickly

Like some of you here, I am still waiting for KCL !!
Due to their technical difficulties, I had to send them back the documents on the 1st of november. The only update I have received concern the assessment of my documents.
On their website, they explain that it takes around 4 weeks - 6 weeks.
It is very frustrating.

Idk... I think you have 15 days to effectively regret. I don't know if there is a fine after that, Let's check!
