Hi,
I just got accepted in King's College as well as in Edinburgh.
It is hard to decide on which one to choose. Which one has the best reputation for European Law? Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice?
LLM In European Law - Edinburgh or KCL?

Hi,
I'm in the same boat. I think it depends what you're looking to do with your degree afterwards. I want to place a greater emphasis on the Competition / Antitrust side- and King's is one of the best for that- arguably, the best in the UK. But, Edinburgh has an amazing academic reputation too... so it depends what you're after.
I think overall it is fair to say King's is more renowned and has a better reputation in the UK.
Hope this helps and let me know what you choose!
Good Luck Choosing :)

Hi,
I agree with Ilegrand. I also applied for the LLM in European Law and have among others an uncontitional offer from Edinburgh. You should check the programmes and courses of the Universities to decide, which fits better in your career plans. I par example want to work for the EU itself or a Federal Ministry, so I'm not so much into the Competition/Antitrust side. I think one point for Edinburgh is the European Institue. For King's it's definetly the ranking and London - of course :-)

I think the UoE is awesome....i mean the professors and tutors are very very supportive and helpful....I have my cousins and elder brother. He said it is under-ranked...!! But its faculty and library is excellent...!
I have some Photographs of the city also....he said they have social parties every wednesday....!!
Also, the University accomodation is much better than most Univ around Europe...!
Also, the students and memebers of the University are extremely friendly,,,,unlike many scottish and English Universities...!

European Law is a definite leader in the LLM programmes at Edi. It is home to the Europa Institute, which is the oldest centre for the study of European law. There are also great student-led initiatives on the European law front at Edinburgh that, though run mainly by PhD students, include the LLM students. These reading groups and conferences help European law students advance their knowledge on many levels and give them access to practitioners, which is no bad thing.
Jo Shaw, who is recognised as one of the leading European law academics, is also based in Edinburgh and is currently spearheading several EU legal research projects...always a good thing for the interested student.
That being said, I know nothing of KCL's European programme.
Best of luck with whichever you choose.
