HELP! My chance for doing 2nd LLM in Tax Law? (LSE, KCL, QMUL)

duchess

Hello, I have just been given an offer by the University of Glasgow for doing LLM in International Commercial Law for the class of 2015.

I think I would take the offer and do my 1st LLM here. However, I'd quite like to do the second one specializing in Tax law and as far as i'm concerned, there're only 3 universities in the UK which offer LLM in this field of study.
So my question is if I have already got one LLM from Glasgow, would it make me compatible to those who only got one LLB but possess such high grade? I did not dare apply this year because of my low LLB grade. (about 2.9/4.0)

p.s. I have got 2 bachelor's degrees (without honor); one in Law and the other in History which I started doing them in the same academic year. plus I have got only 1 year experience working as a legal officer.

Thank you for your attention and comment! and please excuse my poor English. :)

Hi,

I apologize but unfortunately I will not give you the answer you were hoping for.
Having an LLM will not help you compensate a low LLB mark, at least not in most cases, but most importantly you should have in mind that many Universities don't accept people who already have an LLM. Only in exceptional circumstances and only if you manage to convince them that there is a good reason for pursuing the second LLM, like for example a change in career focus etc. Before you accept Glasgow I would recommend to apply to Queen Mary. LSE and King's will be hard for you to get in, but Queen Mary has lower requirements, and accepts quite a large cohort every year. So do try to apply there this year.
